Playful Patience

Consider tomorrow is but yesterday’s choice becoming today’s necessary preparation. For how could we know anticipation without knowledge of the past? Might patience help? (Image by Tabish Shaikh)

Playful Patience

For some,
The goal feels afar,
Beyond the teachings,
Exceeding expectancy.

Yet for a flower that turns its petals,
Enjoying life from the sun’s caress,
Such seems the norm,
The way evolution intended.

The horse,
The dog,
The cat with enigma’s stare,
They too know instinctively,
Life’s varied mindfulness is a given.

Still further distant,
Accepting the particle mass

Of Higgs boson as but a chapter,
Sapient sand drifts about as it may,
Swirl as it will,
Remain inert as it is often want.
For its purpose is never stop.

How sportive the hourglass of existence remains,
Allowing matter, mass and movement phenomena
A force-play of yesterday’s familiar,
To make room for tomorrow’s unknown.

Consider Nature is both persistent and patient,
As we gaze upon the universe searching further,
The empirical proof of the “God Particle,”
Unaware if another related field,
Another particle holding the consummate reveal
May be merely waiting for our imagination
To overcome our skepticism or satisfaction?

And could it be…

This man, beast, and nature conceit
Is only an awareness dreading to be upstaged
By tomorrow’s galactic dust?

Or perhaps another part of infinity’s existence waiting its turn
To mix and become part of the cosmic hourglass,
Knowing creation’s perpetual turning
Will continue as Nature’s eternal slow dance of time,
Is forever with playful patience?

You are delving way beyond my simple understanding of the universe. I don't know what I would do without the daily weather report telling me what the temperature will be so that I can decide my itinerary. But you speak more of eons than the next day. And I'm not sure whether knowledge of the Higgs boson is really worth most people's time. While we live in an inpatient world, you are describing worlds that are evolving over millions of years like ours did. And you are right if you say we don't appreciate it.
