From Where?

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

As sentients, we have so many questions. Many with infinite answers. Many meant to be a life’s search for answers. (Image by KristeenMarie Photographs)

Poem Artwork

From Where?

From where
do the currents form
that first breath
first cry
suckling
coo?

From where
begins tenuous longings
begat by sudden voltage
cranial hostage without voice
not knowing
not yet equipped
only growing synaptic wanderings?

From where
comes liberation
sentient pleads exploding
expression finally knowing its needs?

We wonder
we challenge

From where
does creative experience derive its understanding
that place wisdom becomes the new voice
where the stranger’s "Hi"
opens expansive trust void of clinging
makes attachment moot
relies not on expectation
simply allows the now

of what it will be

knowing purpose

begins as a dream with its own

timetable?

From where

Comes the patience to dream?

Might it be from one’s birth-fist

gripping the mother’s finger?

"From where do the currents form?" I love these first lines, sparking in myself the wonderment of life, carrying from there to all quests, like "From where comes the patience to dream?" All quests begin with a question. Poets, like shamans, fearlessly ask such questions and share the answers in poems, art, and music that sparks still more questions. Your poetry is art!

More questions than answers. It certainly is a mystery that each child born must unravel as its brain begins to absorb everything coming in at such a rapid rate that it is mind-boggling how much learning takes place in the first few months of life.

A wonderful subject to ponder, and you ponder it so well.

Your words make me go inward, away from all I've been taught. I appreciate this, Odin!!

Love ya!

First of all. Adorable little one in the picture. Second. I guess writers have a way of recollection if memories and feelings from the past. A well to dig from when in the creative proccess.

So lovely, this ~~ Writings that consist of questions are some of my favorite. This one is progressively complex, with so much packed into the stanza “does creative experience……”. Magnificent “…trust void of clinging” and “relies not on expectation”. This image choice enhances those last two lines bookending the beginning. Good feeling, thank you :) ~~ djl
