Mirrored Shards
To bow to one’s mistakes
Is to behold mirrored shards
For everything that once appeared in you
Is but temporary
As the inevitable risk of shattering
Make remembrances oh so precious
For such reflections may never appear again.
The bridge with pink sky behind
Where gray tenements renew for well endowed
Spires of building hubris
Replace children once of roller skates
Now of smartphone madness
Fresh flower stands
Now of silk imitation
The mirror of today
Being thrust across the avenue
By those sheltered behind reflective loss
Can’t be seen
Waiting perhaps
For the next shard event
To be
