Whether religious or not, everyone has a quiet way of communicating with the creator’s need for appreciation.

Poem Artwork

Your Humble Scribe

It has its mood swings

As gloom of dark morning recedes

Light peeks through modest windows

Winter’s reflective magic begs entre

Resident spider on wall

Rechecks web in expanding illumined glow

Shoes beside bed ask to walk

So observes this humble scribe

Dost balls shudder in morning draft

As their nightly conferring closes

And sprinkles of morning arousal

Drift their way as I search

Once again for her missing pearl earring

Allowing it could remain lost

For this unassuming pen to feed on

How quiet the snow falls

Allowing darkness of night

To vanish into cold lightness of day

Only to return when a few hours of living

Has fulfilled the often-empty imaginative lifeline

Of your humble scribe

This folds itself out in a haunting way. The term ‘humble scribe’ is captivating, especially with the reference being “…the often-empty imaginative lifeline/Of your humble scribe.”. Such a fabulous, dark, brooding image to accompany this quote. Big intrigue starts this vignette’s mystery of “..her missing pearl earring,” for of course we want to know who ‘she’ is. I love that the pen feeds on the lost earring. That is magnificent! Great piece, Odin. ~~ djl

Beautiful thoughts! I especially connected with your detailed imagery... "Resident spider on wall" and "Shoes beside bed ask to walk"
I can see as well as feel these words, while sharing a few hours of living and sharing imaginative lives.
Blessings, Odin.

A beautiful description of a writer alone amid his/her surroundings that become possible subjects as the days come and go and interesting interludes happen.

In a brief break from reading and writing, I just saw a young squirrel in the rain climb up our pergola and then down a chain holding an empty hanging plant carriage, to fall into the carriage, and then, leap from there to the covered bird feeder, teetering on the edge, for a brief moment. And then, get inside the very small feeder and start scarfing up wet birdseed.

And we thought the bird feeder was impossible for squirrels to get to. But at least one white winged dove had figured out how to leap from the hanging plant carriage like that, too. The squirrel, earlier, on our pergola above, had just chased it off.

Funny what writing opportunities appear on a dreary day alone.

A beautiful rendition of the setting and ambiance surrounding the poem in his element. As you know, I also like to write about the creative process. This certainly sets the mood.
