Succoring Infinate Unanswerables

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

- “It is not the responsibility of knights errant to discover whether the afflicted, the enchained and the oppressed whom they encounter on the road are reduced to these circumstances and suffer this distress for their vices, or for their virtues: the knight's sole responsibility is to succor them as people in need, having eyes only for their sufferings, not for their misdeeds.” - Miguel de Cervantes

Succoring Infinite Unanswerables

Lives rest upon ever-changing terrain
fissures of the interminable
warm fluid fiords carving
paths through destiny’s flotsam
the distant past of unchartered happenstance

Sudden awakening asks
are we not but a universe of questionable life
destined for borderless answers
to be the history of secrets unspoken
fated with identity’s concealment
the ever changing shape of
shadows forged from chance

But for some of us...

Does not our personal unknown reach out
confronting manufactured answers too simple
even as we are dismissed as bothersome intrusions
suggesting our questions thread worn

Yet the unanswerable remains tenacious
believing secrets never lie
that among endless beginnings
eventual verity provides the light
delivering shorter and shorter shadows

Believing life’s mysterious secret
is merely Patience preparing another random crack
webbing the translucent shell of creation
where eggs-ethereal continue to be nurtured
for yet more of the infinite unanswerables
some of us wait

Crushingly soulful, the painting, the Cervantes quote, your written expression. I marvel at how your inquisitive mind, those seasoned and curated questions, travels from the cellular foundation of all things, to the universe of ‘infinite unanswerables.’ Terms you create are phrases I’l like to copy into my journal; such as ‘borderless answers, and ‘uncharted happenstance.’ The combination of so few as two words of yours here….sublime, they are. I had to look up ‘verity’ and ‘succor.’ I’ll never remember them to use myself, but I’m glad I met them. Thank you, Odin ~~ djl

I am amazed at how many are looking for answers to the unanswerable. Scientists and explorers are making progress, but so many have unanswerables just locked in their minds, going nowhere with them and slowing their own progress.

One thing is certain, the more I know, the less I know. I am grateful for great sources like Internet searches to give me insight into what is answerable and what is not.
