Storm Watch Watercolors

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

When our senses cannot be relegated to acceptance, we sometimes have to blindly forge ahead, or forever be antagonized by pain’s persistence. A dedication to all who have suffered loss. (Image by Ashraf)

Poem Artwork

Storm Watch Watercolors

Shards of brittle disappointment
cascade toward cavernous asylum
deep beneath judgment’s layers
where pain holds court,
its faceless clock
forever ticking endless sentences.

Such is the place
where memory’s tenacious tentacles
conduct ghost-like stringed adagios
embraced by down-filled boundaries of time.

Peering upon the fragile canvas,
mortality’s hourglass of lessons
trickles endlessly into memorial sanctuaries,
where life’s ethereal architecture
once occupied with heavy-laden storm-watch purpose
now peacefully accepts closure,

its watercolors in the rain

welcoming the sun’s healing rays.

Disappointment but a dull shard in the colorful mosaic called a life worth living. Yes, everyone suffers disappointment, and that's why we are able to appreciate fulfillment as well. Life's yin and yang always seeks balance, that's what nature tells us. Your final stanza says it all: "Its watercolors in the rain welcoming the sun's healing rays."

Yes, most of us have experienced some kind of loss in our lives. Those memories can be strong and can overpower one with emotion when least expected. I have found that the quicker that I put that bad memory in the past and move forward diligently, the sooner the emotion caused by whatever the loss was, disappear.

For all of those who have lost loves, I have lost a few. But over my lifetime I've found that each new love is actually better than the last one. With that kind of attitude, one can overcome lost love very quickly and be ready to accept the next one.

It's good when one has these moments of clarity. As it is, no matter how the circumstances manifest, special, or not so special, they have a strange way of always leaving footprints in one's heart. Many times, I stood alone in the storm of loss, and when the inclement weather and winds did not destroy me, I adjusted my sails and continued on. Bask in those ray's my friend. Totally related. r
