Perpetual Motion of Life’s Hourglass
Tide-speckled beach,
yesterday’s once-piercing shrapnel,
the cutting short of breath in wars past,
now but aggression’s respite
preparing the next iteration.
Why now do the dunes arouse our sorrow,
their feathery grass mounds unraveling,
making conscious history's nightmare
once of dormant pause.
Why this time,
this place,
this pronouncement
for everything lost,
given up,
anchor-less to drift.
We recline among the kernels of white now.
Broken,
exhausted,
seeing time rushing ashore.
to become layered echoes of evil's battle cries.
Such is life,
once allowing our journey to be a mystery,
now repeating a planet’s fate through an hourglass in motion,
the countdown of time’s helpless iteration of misplaced power
igniting another forever passage.
