Soundless Thundering

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

There are many ways that a bit of silence can serve to move us to action. Unfortunately, many don’t move to accomplish a challenge unless they receive the urge through an explosive moment in the brain. (Image by A.G. Sandrew)

Soundless Thundering

Hearing the footsteps of one’s genealogy,
the pounding of bare feet, sandals and boot,
the rise of malevolent dust and vacuous screams,
such is not ancient history preserved for the present day,
but the noiseless thunder of nocturnal magic
some of us try to endure,
aware that what we visualize is just
images needing somewhere to be placed,
respected,
honored,
even though at times,
consciously hated.

Commercial identity calls it: skeletons in the closet.

But some of us say it is foresight,
desperation to deal with realities unresolved,
to be with what might be,
with what at times we wish had never been.

Even though…

Most readily heard in the quiet of aloneness
Is that clamorous hidden place,
where one’s mind,
one’s heart,
that conundrum of sentience,
desperately searches for that secret cave hideaway.

Some know where it is,
this unresolved awareness of time,
this clock that is always running down,
never advancing as in some Sci-Fi make-believe.

Some of us even know it’s just where it needs to be...

The deracination of noise invites
soundless thundering

to make us move

from nocturnal dreams

to daytime’s reality.

Getting rid of brain noise...sitting quietly and listening. Cutting off from existence all those things that have tried to destroy us (mentally and emotionally over the decades) is not something that happens overnight. It's a long tedious process. Being aware that it needs to be done is the most important thing though, IMO. After that, one must employ discipline and fortitude to overcome. This honesty spoke to me. Thanx 4 sharing. r

Powerful imagery, Odin. You relate to what most of us would like to ignore: the cross-sections of time, place, and awareness, both good and evil. Yes, we must move into daylight and quiet the noise that would overwhelm us if we stayed too long and gave it sway over our souls.
