The Something

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

The immensity of the cosmos and its continual evolvement is indeed a conundrum of sorts that perhaps is such because that's truly the only way it could be.

Poem Artwork

The Something

Ethereal fluid flows Life’s energy

Viscosity of constant change

Thin and thick roils the coils of existence

By chance

Man finds its way into Nature’s roll call

And the ether’s rarefied element.

Yet…

Humankind continually misses

Or loses

Its rights and reasoning

Choosing instead to elbow in a spawning ground of escapists.

And of course…

More hitchhikers

Bouncing around

Seeking purchase

Like crustaceous barnacles finding a whale’s back

Aquire a free ride on the vessel equipped to navigate life on its own.

But…

For the few who accept liability

And take their place beside civilization’s smooth and rough evolvement

The question of identity becomes authentic

Such few become the something

Of everything

Accepting themselves as specs of being

In a universal maze of becoming.

Oh, to stay amongst the few.

Or to even ever ‘be’ one of “such few” — I like the flare that is added with the word ‘such’ instead of ‘so,’ and even that is your authenticity writing itself. “roils the coils” was a fun step taken and “spawning ground of escapists” takes the cake. My favorite is “Bouncing around/Seeking purchase.” That is both audial and visual. Liked this one. ~~ djl

There is little more pleasing, IMO, than seeing someone as being genuine. Sharing sincerely and owning who you really are, I believe, allows an individual to be their authentic self. To live unapologetically, and authentically, is to have a life filled with personal truths, which, speaking for myself, are usually gleaned at great cost. As it's been said: "Like wildflowers, you must allow yourself to grow in all the places people never thought you would." To have someone say to you: 'you are an authentic human being' is probably the greatest compliment one can ever receive. Continued inspiration. r

I love your expression!

"The question of identity becomes authentic

Such few become the something

Of everything..."

Powerful insight and beautifully stated.

Thank you for sharing, Odin.
