Challenging Destiny

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Perhaps one of the most perplexing states of being is to engage the mind with logic and reason, only to feel emotionally impaired. (Painting by Agsandrew)

Poem Artwork

Challenging Destiny

Might a degree of sorrow

Be part of growing

Might mistakes be necessary

For growth to chance

Might the swirl of confusion

Find solace in patience

How persistent this furling conundrum

Where hurtful answers often circumvent the heart

Yet talk clearly to an intellect’s ripened maturity

THIS poem rocks, Odin!! Your words will dance in my mind this evening. Just as walking in the woods, we learn to watch our step but still one or two roots trip you up!! One learns not to wear flip flops!! 'Love this!

Love ya!

As my mother always said: Learn from your mistakes and never make the same mistake twice without great risk.

Much truth in your observation. When I made a mistake while growing up, I never did it again… Well, at least not one or two times more. ;-)

Yes. Yes. and yes, to your first three couplets. And yes, sometimes wisdom beleaguers the heart, but is assimilated by the mind, and, in season can bring about healthy change... "Emotionally impaired" (-: or perhaps emotionally vulnerable. Sometimes a narcissist will watch you struggle, and then go help a stranger instead of you. Thanks for sharing. r

Tremendous fortitude within this Agsandrew depiction and this sparsely-written four stanzas that contain that force and then unleash “..this furling conundrum.” I wish I could memorize the third couplet…what a mantra that would be! You have tapped into the ‘portal’ with this piece, Odin. Whether your words found the art or the art found your words, together they draw us into that portal, the yin line followed by the yang line. I took a screen capture of this page. It is a potent potion, a truth serum. I love the line “Yet talk clearly to an intellect’s ripened maturity.” Exquisite piece of writing. Thank you ~~ djl
