Saving Lives Quietly

Today, there are many ways to connect with people. Contacts are easy, but conveying adult attitudes worth sharing continues in short supply. Why?

Saving Lives Quietly

Might it be,

To save certain lives

Requires less use of the

Medical world of survival?

Might it be,,,

Infusing the growing  human

With undying determination

The desire to reach an age

When one is not too old

Or senile enough to

Convey confidence to grandchildren?

Even…

Without offspring,

And from a distance,

Might there be a desire,

A wish to share that gift of purpose,

To encourage everyone to be all they are destined to be,

Even beyond the adolescent stage many remain stuck in,

Allowing instead an acceptance of knowing

You are squarely where you need to be

An epiphany in progress

Where discovering one’s true authentic self

Is a privilege without strings attached?

Your words convey what my daughter and I have instilled in our grandchildren and that is that it's O.K. to think "outside the box" and do what makes them happy. Outstanding write, Odin, as usual!!

Love ya!

Love the idea presented in this poem and its implications. your last lines say it all. If a person has discovered their "one true authentic self", then they are quite capable of untying any lingering strings that may be attached.

An undying question since Socrates first proposed that the younger generation was going to hell. While you fit into the category of many grandchildren, I fit into the category of no offspring. But, I have noticed that my many nieces and nephews have followed less volatile but very productive courses in life with a couple of exceptions caused by early introduction to alcohol.

And I hope that my few years of college teaching have helped some to rise above the ordinary thinking and become great, not in wealth, but in compassion and help as a result of what I did for them.

I'm hopeful that my many articles, poems and books will encourage those members of my family to strive for a better life like you and I have received through steadfast determination and unwillingness to follow the crowd like so many do to some disastrous end.

Kudos for pointing this out to us how we influence those who follow us in this ever more diverse, faster and complicated world.

Ron,

The medical industry can address a host of corporeal problems, but it does very little for the spirit and the emotions. It's been proven to me many times (so far in my life) that often one act of loving kindness towards another can change their lives. I believe that when we interrelate with others, that it's most important that it produces joy and well-being, rather than rancor and disgust. To find your true authentic self, (IMO) you need to surround yourself with people who motivate you to be a better person, to improve, to think, to change, and at all costs, to avoid petty dramas, jealousy, and negativity. Enjoyed this. Hope you're well. Peace... rlc

Well, much can be said about the docusoap/insta/tiktok-world we live in today. It isn't made for endurance and problem solving in the everyday-life. It is both good and bad. The good thing is that dysfunctional relationships are left sooner rather than later in more cases. The bad thing is that a lot of times beautiful relationships are left for no reason. I try to write my thoughts down and let them go, thus not taking the escape route before I have figured my own role in the situation out. It's kept my relationship happy for over 9 years now. But it has also cost me a few friends that really weren't bringing anything good into my life. Positive side is I have gained better friends.
Beautiful writing from you that I may have interpreted wrong. 🙂
