Solitude's Symphony

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Much can be said for solitude's results, but rather than focus on loneliness and isolation, one can listen carefully to silence and its messages, which are only available to those who embrace solitude's positive side.

Poem Artwork

 Solitude’s Symphony

How supportive the allegro of one’s seclusion,

Affording sanctuary form,

Where the noise of the world is reduced

Allowing self to emerge

Free of disharmony’s clutter.

In the diminuendo of chaos

Order quiets the remaining dissonant interruption.

Thoughts wander freely,

And dreams take shape.

A new timbre of harmony

Begins its adagio assent.

In ether’s quietness,

One hears the whisper of lyrical tones

Seeking further harmony,

While gentle nudges of intuition

Guide unconnected melodies

To coalesce

Toward one’s zenith of joy.

The movement of Andante’s comfort

Reminds one of the humble nature

Of psychic wayfaring,

Its manuscript of authenticity protects

The experience of a living mirror

Reflecting the depths of strength and shadow

Following the movements of this sensorial journey,

An inward presence that is profound and raw.

In the quiet awakening,

The playful nature of new voicing

Crosses the threshold,

Bringing Scherzo smiles to the isolation,

A joyous interim before

Folding back into a Sonata’s stillness

Where one can reflect on the creativity that has bloomed

Like cared-for petals in the fertile ground of silence.

The value of isolation has shown itself

As a gift of self-discovery,

A space for further healing,

And the finding of peace with one’s own company.

Yes…

It may be but a retreat,

A strategic pause from the relentless marching outside,

A few moments to breathe,

To find incomparable bliss,

To simply exist honorably,

But to discover…

That is enough.

That whirlwind painting is something I climb right into. Magnificent. You have written on one of my favorite subjects: two, music and solitude. Like Ron, I see new visions in your language used here, along with the musical terminology. Example is “Its manuscript of authenticity protects/.” And: “The playful nature of new voicing/“ or “…..relentless marching outside,” and my favorite: “To simply exist honorably,” “That is enough.” = what a wise three words. I’ve been away from AD lately. Glad I set my tuner to your frequency, Odin. ~~ djl

You have often written on this theme. But you are overflowing this time, using words that I would have to look up in a dictionary to fully appreciate for your love of solitude expressed. I especially like the last stanza that wraps up the concept quite well.

I have never found being alone disquieting. As far as solitude? I refer to Simon and Garfunkel… "Hello darkness (silence) my old friend… It's good to see you once again… Listen to the sound of silence."

While they get into the evil of society silently expressed on "… subway walls, tenement halls…" I find, like you, solitude be very relaxing and a time to let my mind run free of all the cacophony going on around me, mostly just noise.
