In times of chaos and turmoil, the dreams of youth spring forth and remind us that peace and love can be had anywhere and anytime with mind and heart open to past and future possibilities in spite of the deterrents.

Lonely Pebble
The lonely pebble knows well
The long journey of every ebb
And the reward of every tide
Where and when finally deposited on shore
Becomes a diamond for a small child
Oh, to have access to such simple appreciations again.
I agree with Ron and Richard, the image is the epitome of innocent awareness and appreciation. And with the verse in this poem, I read into the lonely pebble being elders, whose life journeys shaped them and wore them smooth to the touch, whereas the ‘simple appreciations’ actually DO become accessible to us once again. How? Because we return via advanced age to the simplicity from the chaos of the journey; and gratitude for the softness of a scarf, or the warmth of a blanket or the replenishment from a cup of tea with honey, or a generously-given conversation with someone we like or love….becomes our diamond and we, again, the small child. It’s really plenty beautiful, that. And your introspection matches that beauty, Odin. Thank you ~~ djl
Best illustration I've seen from you in months. In my experiences, when memories are stored in the heart instead of the mind, and when you have a willingness to write down what you're feeling, honestly and accurately, then an appreciation of even the smallest things can sweeten the moment. Especially when you know where to look. Thank you for sharing. r
Love the pic and the wonder it expresses.
