Life's Deciduous Dance

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

We often think of Nature’s seasons of change each year, but to realize humankind survive and renew in a seasonal pattern as well.

 Life’s Deciduous Dance

We live atop

Beneath

And beside a garden of love.

Leaves of life fall and renew,

The cycle dances with the wind,

Ever-changing,

Shedding old skins in preparation

For a different season of flowering.

The spring of love’s prosperity

Sprouts fresh and tender shoots anew

Reaching for light.

The summer of authenticity

Brings a fullness,

A canopy of abundance

Where shadows of joy are cast.

But familiarity of autumn reveals

Changes often unanticipated,

Where love’s truth reveals the season’s

Diverse authenticity

In hues of gold and crimson.

The leaves of our seasonal evolution fall.

Truth rests it guard.

In winter’s chill it rests,

Yet beneath the frost,

Roots of truth remain,

Love’s essence waiting to reclaim.

Authenticity of love and prosperity

Remain deciduous,

The dance of spring’s ebb and flow

Anticipates the world warming,

Reviving the sprouts of purpose,

Life’s integrity stronger for the season it has weathered.

Never still,

Ebbing and flowing life’s energy,

Finding new forms in its sequence of change,

The cycle of Life’s expectancy

Dancing with rebirth forever more.

You have brought back something I've always admired. Whether it be forest leaves or dried grass in prairies falling to the ground or burning in the fall, they are building that magical place called, topsoil.

Earlier in our earth, the planet was very rocky. But waves and rain and wind have always ground away at the hardened volcanic rock. Always from larger pieces to smaller particles until roots from plants could take hold in it. And it would hold water for a time.

When we "Improve" the landscape by covering it with concrete or black top, we stop that delicious deciduous process from occurring and rob the planet from nutrients it needs to feed us and all of the animal kingdom.

So much meaning to be found in the cyclical aspect of things, including both nature and love. As you rightly point out, the seasons have their moment in the grand cycle, but even chilling winter speaks of endurance, waiting for the spring blossoms once more. The message of rebirth is unmistakable, especially during this Easter season of resurrection and rebirth.
