Rainbow's Tempestuous Resurrection

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Some of us believe that with each word we determine to use in a piece of writing, there is an associated color and its organic genesis. Such is a stimulating urgency that usually requires action. (Image by Odin AI

Poem Artwork

 Rainbow’s Tempestuous Resurrection

The canvas is blank,
but listens.
It tilts its pale skull toward the trembling air,
waiting for the first disobedient idea
to crawl out of the subterranean dark.

The exposition wavers in a translucent coma,
twitching like a chrysalis caught between lifetimes.

Passion’s brushes lean forward,
bristles quivering as if sensing an approaching storm-god.
Character colors mutter in their jars,
each hue a trapped weather system.
Composition stretches its vertebrae,
audibly cracking into alignment.

The light snaps into a sudden orbit,
spinning like a dying star remembering its duty.
A pulse travels through the floorboards.
Time begins to leak.

A question stirs,
not asked but hatched,
its shell fracturing with a tremor
that rushes up the spine of the canvas.

The first color detonates,
passionate-red nouns erupting like volcanic grammar,
their lava colliding with conjunctive-gray
in slow‑motion tectonics.

Green and yellow adjectives flare up,
electrical vines whipping across the lexicon’s left flank
as if photosynthesis decided to riot.

Compassionate-blue pours in,
not calmly, but like a sky melting,
dripping its raw sorrow across the stanza.

The white of pause materializes as a frost,
crackling, splitting, opening doorways
into the unseen mechanics of meaning.

Indentation arrives violently,
a sudden plunge,
a crater sinks into the page.
Forgotten pain erupts through it,
a feral geyser of old seismic ghosts.
Red passion splashes outward,
slamming a line shut like a slammed iron gate,
blasting the next open with centrifugal shock.

A scream beneath the canvas,
too large for lungs,
shreds upward, demanding gesso
thick enough to muffle eternity.

Years smear themselves like sedimentary graffiti,
pressing into purple strata, veins of bruised yellow
spilling sideways into widening cracks.

Then the rupture…

Crimson breaking open in a blistering bloom,
a synesthetic explosion of heat and sound and grief.
Everything rushes at once:
gray fog liquefies,
edges flood,
boundaries forget themselves.

The palette becomes a tidal roar,
a chromatic convulsion overtaking the field.

And when the deluge finally slackens,
when the world stops spinning,
sorrow drifts to its assigned corner,
blinking, stunned,
like a creature that survived its own extinction.

What remains is a vast, drowned plain,
a flat reality shimmering under retreating waters.
Rainbow‑slick currents slide across it,
whispering new alphabets,
new futures,
new beginnings that refuse to end,
color reclaiming everything
in a riotous resurrection.

A poem that not only describes the act, the process, of creation but also recreates it, a kind of upheaval or storm with color, memory and emotion all combined at once into one colossal effort of, yes, creation. The poem has a richness that seems to come alive, a living organism or miracle and wonder, ending finally "in a riotous resurrection."
