Sometimes faith steps in and proves us wrong about things we believed.

 Masquerade Ball

She sat on a bench in the balcony

Watching the dancers below

Beautiful and serene

Her mask didn’t show

Her velvet skin so soft

Blue eyes that twinkled

like stars on a night sky

He came up to the balcony

To escape the girls curious eyes

He didn’t want to be there

They all thought he was a rich prize

Hounding him as he tried to disappear

He heard a quiet sigh

He looked around the pillar

And saw the most beautiful girl

Watching all the others below dance

His heart started to beat rapidly

He wondered if he would have a chance

He said,” Hello, why aren’t you down there?”

She smiled and shook her beautiful blonde hair

“I can’t dance,” she sadly said

“So I came up here to hide my shame,

For you see, I am lame.”

He sat next to her and they started to talk

Time passed and he realized what a treasure she was

How could she think otherwise?

In his heart there were butterflies

“Well, let me teach you up here.

There will be only you and I.”

“You will enjoy dancing, you will see.”

She hesitated and bowed her head down

Afraid she was silent her face had a little frown

Raising her head she sighed inwardly and said

“Thank you kind sir, I can’t dance for I have a bad limp.”

“I am afraid if I should try to dance I might trip.”

He smiled at this lovely girl that had won his heart

And slowly extended his hand

She looked up into his kind eyes

Taking his hand she stood up and he said

“Hold onto me and we will dance up here,

I won’t let you fall or trip so have no fear.”

They danced very slowly to the music from below

He held her tightly in his arms and didn’t let go

As they danced he smiled as he realized that

When she wasn’t thinking about being lame

She hardly limped at all

No one would have really noticed it at the ball.

At the end of the night they had fallen in love

She knew he was the one for her there was no doubt

He told her he would call the very next day

He didn’t want her to have a chance to stray

So you see, there is always a chance for romance

But you must be willing to try

All it takes is looking for the perfect guy

Well I always hope that love finds its way to your heart and as a guy you know we are so much like blockheads that the perfect girl may have to be encouraged to see the perfect girl right inn not of him lol

It also takes a lucky break like him discovering her on the balcony. A really nice story with a very sweet ending.

When I was limping so badly (I never was lame ;-)) that my doctor told me to get into a wheelchair so that I would stop tripping and falling, I met a girl at work that was a professional dancer after working hours and on weekends. I'd always loved to dance and we loved to dance together from fast to slow. I found the advantage in dancing was that I could go into a fall and still catch myself (or have her catch me) as part of an intricate maneuver like a spin by using moment and my still strong sense of balance. I actually could dance better than I could walk in a straight line. Thanks to her fantastic moves, people would often clap when they would see us on the dance floor. She still dances and I'm trying to get her to try out for America's Got Talent. She sings Proud Mary and does a mean Tina Turner at 72.

Whew! This guy moves fast in just one night! But who am I to judge?
A fast paced romance that shakes the rafters sure puts a lot of excitement into love. Well done, Kathleen.

I can see that you have a strong romantic side and I am sure you know that I do. This actually brought tears to my eyes, Kathi. Thank you for sharing this lovely gift. Love and best wishes to you,
