Next to our bed that we shared
I sat down and opened it up to see
What was written in there
.
I have missed you for such a long time
Since you had to have assisted care
I found it hard to read the words
Between all my lonely tears
.
The years few by as I read the words
You wrote throughout your life
Some made me smile and laugh
Others made my chest feel sad and tight
.
You chronicled each and every day after we met
Right down to the flower I gave you as you sat
Under the tree by the winding stream
You looked so lovely an answer to all my dreams
.
Our young years flew and our love grew
As each page I read came into view
You even had the flower dried and put inside
In this diary that you treasured with your life
.
I am going to bring this diary to the home
Where you now reside
To see if I can help you relive your life
The memories that you have locked inside
.
My love for you will always be there
Like the silver that has become streaked in your hair
I will bring that rose you dried so carefully
When you put it in your diary
.
Lovely the memories unlocked as forever love
in this beautifully penned poem.
