In loving memory of Brooke Marie House
my beautiful grandniece whose tiny life lasted only two hours but who touched us all in ways that will last throughout our lifetimes...(edited and reposted)

Poem Artwork

Butterfly Angel

There was an enchanted butterfly
Who had only but one wing
She walked because she could not fly
And she taught herself to sing

She had the keen ability
Of making others smile
'Twas her understanding of the heart
That made it all worthwhile

She sang her songs of happiness
And tales of love so true
She’d sing so loud as she would walk
None near her could feel blue

Her lovely voice would echo
Off the mountains, through the glen
And all the creatures in her path
Felt humbled by their friend

A frog came up and asked her
“How come you do not fly?”
She said “Dear frog, if I had wings,
I could not see you eye to eye.”

She was blessed without her wing, she said
And in being kept earthbound
She was able to enchant the lives
Of all the creatures on the ground

You see though soaring has it’s perks
On land she’d rather be
So she could use her pretty voice
To teach love and harmony

On a starry night while all alone
With no one else in sight
She returned to her true angel self
Then flew off into the night

But every morning at sunrise
If you listen you will hear
The butterfly angel’s pretty voice
Still spreading love and cheer

I too had to go misty eyed on this one...enchantingly sad and yet wonderfully uplifting...amazing little "Butterfly Angel"

And what's even more amazing is that the Butterfly's transition was given to us in order to see God's plan...Everything placed before us has purpose, just like Brook~

Thanks for stopping into my den...it's nice to meet you!

Love and Peace~

Sherry...the poem itself is like a butterfly, beautiful, gentle and
fleeting... as I pray the pain will be for you and your family, friends and loved ones, who share the loss of your tiny "butterfly angel"...it leaves me weeping. Father God, send The Comforter.

Your BUTTERFLY ANGEL takes the sting out of the curse and transforms it into the petals of a blessing. Four BUTTERFLY ANGELS have fluttered their beauty through my life and destiny and taught me much that I otherwise might never have realized. They tend to leave a light of enchanted love that never completely fades. Peace and blessings to you and yours--

Oh, what a beautiful tribute. Write like an angel, my friend.
Makes me sad, but. . .this is so lovely. You can see the
butterfly and hear her sweet, gentle voice. The frog adds
a touch of humor. By an angel for an angel is all I can think
to say. Thank you for this touching and inspiring work of art.

Dear Sherry,

There is a soft and fragile beauty within your words, tender and magical yet powerful enough to hit home... the fragility of humanity and the immense power of love. A beautiful ode to a perfect Angel whom God needed by his side.

What a special and unique gift her little life is and was... and what a wonderful gift of inspiration you have been blessed with, Sherry, to commemorate her by. A beautiful allegory, and oh so fitting, somehow. I find it fascinating how we subliminally recognise that newborn infants are spiritually "older and wiser" than their very few lifelong hours. May this lovely work bring comfort, peace and encouragement to those whose great loss little Brooke Marie will be - enduring name, by the way. Bless you and TY Kate xx

Sherry,
I remember reading this before, and it made me cry then too. Children aren't suppose to die, they are suppose to live full and happy lives, being loved by the parents that gave them life to begin with. Dying is for those that have reached maturity, and gained and shared themselves with the rest of us that are waiting to do so.
I had a baby sister that lived only about this same amount of time, Mom and Dad, spent nine months grooming me not to be the baby of the family anymore, and then the next thing I knew, I was standing beside a baby's closed casket, at the graveyard, and I was too young to understand that too. The whole family was sad, and I wasn't only sad, I was confused as well.
The saddest of it all, is that we have not one photo of her. Nobody except Mom and Dad, ever saw her.
Yes this made me cry, but it also made me smile, for now I know that Mom and baby sister are together, where they belonged, all those years ago.

Thank you Sherry.
