Innocence Lost

Darkness rains from clouds of ash

As The Towers tumble down

A heap of rubble is what remained

Beneath a tattered angel’s gown

The smoke was thick and chaos reigned

We must save all those within

But as the burning walls crashed to the ground

We watched the horror of terror win

Angered by fear as lives were lost

Each one more painful than the last

The heartless Beasts had made their point

As the first stone of war was cast

Bitter tears the Eagle cried

For her children gone too soon

And the sun in sadness left the sky

Giving way to a blood-stained moon

Our world was tossed and turned that day

But in united bond we stood

From sea to ever shining sea

All of America in brotherhood

Now freedom’s fate is in our hands

Is it worth the fight by you and I

Or will terror come to rule our land

And take another piece of our sky

I don’t care to live until the time

When all our freedom goes away

9-11 showed what we have to lose, and

Too well I recall that day
