' . . . she closed love's door . . . '

Poem Artwork

What had drawn them together was gone

The love he had for her began to unravel

He was now seeing her in a different light

His rational eye caused a separated vision.

What he once saw as being beautiful, she

turned a blind eye - to her, it never existed

He felt so strongly at one point, he would

have laid his life and soul on the line.

She told him that being in her life was

dragging her down; she closed love's

door; he began to cry - had been down

that painful and unforgiving road before.

His memories of her were now being

washed away by his tears - each drop

carried with it a special feeling; now

left scars as they ran down his face.

He asked her, "Why leave me standing

here?" "You'll never know how many

ways I've tried to tell you I love you;"

All she could say was to get lost.

"Why?" he asked, "Did I do something

to hurt you?" She coldly responded,

"You accused me of something I didn't

do, and then covered it up with a lie!"

"All I did was to tell you there was no

point in continuing this relationship if

you didn't care;" And then we starting

talking again - thought everything was okay?"

"But with long periods of time passing by

and no communications - maybe you had

found another man;" "However, my love

was too great, didn't want to lose you."

To his pleading, all she did was turn a

deaf ear; still toyed with his emotions

To her it was just a game she'd continue

to play while waiting for the other 'man'.

With all that she did, he was still in love

Wanted to spend the rest of his life with

her - went and bought a diamond ring

Was going to propose; drove non-stop.

He never made it; she wondered why

the phone no longer rang; asked a friend

"Oh didn't you hear, he died in an accident;"

She started to cry - sat cold and motionless.

"He was on his way to ask for your hand

in marriage;" then she really lost it - became

a recluse; was never seen again; now love

lay bleeding in her hands . . .

Heartbreaking poem...but all so real to some!!

The seperated vision of a unsupportive lover in a relationship can bring many bad visions indeed!!

Have a wonderful "writing week" poet....I like your new "style"!!

What a tragic tale this is. That is why if you love someone don't wait until it's too late to let him/her know of your love. For some, it was too late. Play hard-to-get only hurts one another.

Great story, Robert!!!

OMG, this is so heartbreaking...so many lessons in this beautiful heartwrenching write. Oh my Lance, you have me in tears. We must always reach out to those we love and tell them everyday what they mean to us for this is a lesson for all. Love and hugs, Bonnie
