“Goodbye cold people”

Poem Artwork

All seemed to be talking behind his back

Created a space bound tight by walls of

illusion – he grabbed at imaginary straws

trying to glimpse at his past, present and

his future; especially all the loves he lost.

Then it came to him, it was within himself

No one else can make you change – you are

where you are because of decisions that you

make, and no one can make you feel inferior

without your consent; “Goodbye cold people.”

He no longer envisioned himself having to put

up circular covers to circumvent the ‘rain’ that

always seemed to daunt and torment his life

Particularly the circular cover that went through

his mind and down deep, deep into his soul.

And now he knows they can’t see him because

he isn’t one of them anymore, he is beyond that

Life once again is flowing within him and no

longer is he trying to save the world; once again

he holds the truth – he has regained peace of mind.

Balanced, grounded and peace of mind. All illusive most of the time. Bravo for this guy who was able to rise above all. Excellent write, Lance. Hang in there. Liz

Amazing Photo Lance,
This Is Over The Top Message Photography!
I Like The Message Inside The Poem Too
It is so True That We Are responsible For What We Want & Where We Are
No-one Is To Blame for any of it actually.

Hello Robert,

A profound poetic resurrection that benefits the writer and the readers,
"you are where you are ...no one can make you inferior without your consent." Freedom is a choice, and we can always choose to be happy with who we are. Thank you for this poem covers all that.

Lance,
You use the umbrella metaphor to great effect here, offering shade and cover as well as the opportunity to re-evaluate and discover ourselves, to go beyond the crowd, "he isn't one of them anymore" to find personal identity. Strong point of view and very worthwhile.

As I have always quoted - "If anyone doesn't like me for reasons of their own, it's their own mental problems, not mine. I have more important things to do than to try to impress the ignorance."
