Reflection

by Michael Charles Messineo — Read all 96 poems by Michael Charles Messineo

Time is the ultimate game changer, but many people can’t see the subtle changes that happen along the way. Take the time to reflect where you’ve been and where you think you are going. Spring cleaning of the mind can create new gardens in life.

Monday, July 30, 2018

Time for reflection, regardless of age,

your status, your things, your salary, your stage.

Friends, acquaintances, workers, and such,

subtract the clutter, reduce the much.

Where have you been, where are you going?

Aches and pains, your energy slowing.

Change your path, plant new seeds,

pull your social network weeds.

Your needs and wants have changed with time.

Old maps predict a steady decline.

New horizons scream open my door.

Reject old guidance, time to explore.

Discard the advice that held you down.

No longer a servant, you’ve earned the crown.

Remake yourself, adjust the dials,

time to collect your book of smiles.

Such a moving, thought provoking work, Michael. Reflection, though vital to successful decision making and life, is not done enough, in my opinion.
Sometime ago, I wrote a blog on the Importance of Reflection.
When you get a moment, head over to my den, take a few minutes to read the blog and let me know what you think.
Thank you for sharing, and continued success.

Brilliant insight beautifully wrought in a poem. You got me thinking how I have tried to maintain links that no longer appear to be there. Fortunately, someone from long ago occasionally contacts me. Most, only for a moment.

My mind is willing to reach out and do new things, but my body will not let me any more. So, I have turned, more and more toward writing as a release and a way to explore where my body will go anymore.

Oh yes, this is so good. We are the ones in the driver seats of our own lives. When one road is blocked, take another. The opportunities are up to us to grab.
