'They were on the wrong track . . . '

Poem Artwork

The couple found the perfect home

In a quaint old town; loved it from the

very first minute; knew somehow they

would never get bored – moved right

in the next morning . . .

They had bought the house and land

At an estate auction – it dated back

to the 1930’s; everything inside was

kept the same way; there was something

very unique about it . . .

The elderly couple that had owned it

Mysteriously disappeared; the police

investigated – found no clues; it was

like no one had ever lived there; couldn’t

even find any fingerprints . . .

Weeks had now passed-by and the young

Couple had pretty much settled-in; then one

day while the husband was doing some yard

work, he uncovered something unusual; “Honey

come look at this . . . ”

It was train-tracks; they decided to ask around

To get more information – after talking with

some of the town’s older residents, they found

out that there use to be a steam locomotive that

made a nightly run . . .

“Yeah, The OLd 475 use to come through every

evening at exactly eight-o’clock – was never late;

always ran according to schedule; the old station was

located where your house now sits, but that was some

seventy-plus years ago . . . ”

That same night, while the couple were in the kitchen

Cooking dinner, the whole house started to shake; they

looked at each other – the sound of a train got closer

and then suddenly, it came through the side of the house

and stopped by them . . .

It was the OLd 475 with its’ ghost engineer; the couple

Stood there horrified; a conductor motioned; no trace of

them was ever found – it made a run whenever a new owner

moved in; still thought it was the old station; had an ‘eclat for

never leaving anyone behind . . .

Interesting tale, reminds me of an old Twilight Zone show where the grandfather held on to a train ticket for a train that once ran through where the house stood and only the grandson believed the grandfather until the end when the train did come and the grandfather climbed aboard....

Be always safe,
Karen
