A space craft has landed

Small rewards.
But measured against
Earthly costs and benefits
It pales.
This could be the beginning
Of a new venture—
How to save ourselves
From ourselves.
I don’t know if
We have yet proved
Our mettle
Our worthiness.
In the game
Of hurling objects
Randomly or with purpose
The universe is
The grandmaster
And we are mere
Children.
Projectiles and uncertain surfaces
Caution us
To move boldly
With humility.
