Is the past and future one in the same?
Where does one end and the other begin?
Because time doesn’t stand still;
I can’t go back, and I can’t go forward-
so does this mean that I’m on a borderline of atoms, momentarily?
Where does the “present” fit into the scheme of things?
I can say that the past is a memory (history)
I can say that the future is a thought, a prediction a prophecy
But what can I say about the “present” which seems to be never?
Is the present a place I go to in order to dream?
“As things are now”- is not now-
They’ve gone, or yet to come
While time moves on...where am I in the time
it takes to go from the past to future

Wow, you express such interesting thoughts here and the words flow so smoothly. I've often wondered about the same things. But I guess the present is where we are, so even if it may be a momentary thing in the grand scheme of it all, it's surely the most important... to us anyway... ;)
Present is the test for the past and future I think. Your poem is puzzle like and I admire poems that make me think after their read. Superb in it's suggestions.

Very thought provoking, indeed, Marilyn. I think time is a circle and sometimes we feel stuck in the middle, eventually we will begin to feel movement again.

I don't really care which it is as long as I have something to drink.
the solution is simply living in The Now ... i allude to katy's response which encompasses the emotional affect of living in The Now ... i concure that the present, past and future are merged and it depends on our ability to merge with it and by doing so transcend it, evolve it and move on into it ... ( i know lots of its ;)
Interesting thought. My present is the moment I am living in this instant, but a second from now it will have passed and I will be looking forward to the next one. LOL. Great write. Enjoyed the thoughts. Trish.

Hmmm.. Marily, em.. the present is the future past.. oh, wait, I think that's grammar lesson #67. Nevermind. (smile) Actually, the present is exactly the time we have to absorb, to watch, to look. It's when we wake up... it's that last thought before sleep. For me, the present is so busy, filled with wonder, that I let the past have its rest and the future keep its mysteries and secrets... I'll find them soon enough. How's that? Obviously, your wonderfully intrigueing piece has gotten me started.... always a good thing! hehe... katy xox.
