Uncommon Courage
I cannot say what’s in your heart
Though I stand and try to hear
I only know the strength I feel
Whether you’re far away or near.
I sense a loneliness too great
For you to have to bear
I see the gentleness in your smile
A willingness to share.
Your measured thoughts your focused look
Bespeak your mind’s resolve
A certainty surrounds your moves
A mystery to solve.
You have seen and felt a lot of strife
And struggles too great to mention
Yet through it all you have stood tall
Beyond my comprehension.
You seem to know to feel to sense
What life is all about
And yet you bear the brunt of it
I’d sooner live without.
Whence comes your strength
Your will to live
While others stop the trying
You bravely stand and face the odds
You’re not afraid of dying.
If more had half the courage
That you display with ease
We’d all be much the better
And life a joy to seize.
Unafraid you make the trek
Your strength so understated
You make my steps a firmer thing
My soul replenished and elated.
Ponderings: Maybe if you made the whole poem free verse without periods, or added all punctuation including commas, it would read better. Also "If more had half the courage" could be missing words like "If I had more than half.."
Over all good.

Thanks to this moral courage to dare...one can grow up...in tune
with one-self...think own thoughts...aloud...move forward with a grace
when there is no strength to go on...becoming a proud citizen...of own
universe...when the world tries to break one down...and survive with
luck...of one-self own making......an uncommon courage, indeed....
