Paris is Forever
To know her is to love her
But if you don’t like wine
She will forgive you after all
She has many ways to shine;
Walk her streets lose your way
Especially in the rain
Feel her history see her sights
Get to know her pain;
Find her in her art
Be kind to all her noise
Little girls love the way she swoons
She dances for little boys;
Students scholars monks and more
Gather to teach and learn
Writers try to find the words
That tell of Spring’s return;
Musicians learn about her music
And some will leave their mark
While artists fill their canvases
Along her streets and parks;
Emperors come and prelates go
And kings know of her charms
Revolutions fizzle within her drizzle
Love slumbers in her arms;
Do not ask to know if she is burning
For surely she is not
Rather ask whose hearts are yearning
She knows what they have brought;
Two thousand years and more
She’s lived to tell her tales
Two thousand more will find her
Where magic never fails;
Among the treasures to be found
Along life’s weary way
This lady never lets you down
And she is here to stay.
