With gratitude to the unsung heroes in the medical profession.
Healing Hands
A hands-on healer
Is an honorable pursuit
It asks for your time
Your talent
Your love and
Your care—
You often work long hours behind the scenes
Without praise.
But out there somewhere
Is another being who
Is healthy where once there
Was sickness or deformity
Who now has the chance to
Achieve on his or her own.
“God heals” they say and while that is true
God also asks for help
And that is up to you—
You take up the challenge
To bring His handiwork
To His patients
So that many more of us
Can take our place on
The great elevator of life
And reach for the stars
In good hands
In good spirits and
In good health.
"God helps them who help themselves.". I'm not sure who said this but it's true. I believe that we may pass angels every day and not know it. Why did we see them "at that moment" but never see them again? Was our mind wandering and needed help? Your words always get me thinking! Thanks!
I have a number of friends in the healing professions and have myself often had need of them and others who share their hearts and hands in such compassionate ways. Then there are those who go beyond the pale in caring (i.e. Doctors Without Borders, Remote Area Medical, et al) who really do operate without individual recognition. We are so fortunate that there are so many willing to give so much of themselves in so many ways. Thank you for giving them the praise they are due.
You give praise to an excellent point. The value of healing hands is limitless, and not just the hands but all that the hands can do. Fine poem. I read it out loud to hear its resonance and "to feel its hands".
