Life is Worth Living

What do we know about life? 

Only that it is kind, caring, understanding, tolerant, loving, and forgiving.  It also challenges, probes, forces us to grow and to learn.

Life respects all living things--but especially the forests and the trees, the flowers and the breeze, the rain, the sunshine, and Nature’s crowning jewel--a picturesque lake. 

But a virus that takes life like a thief in the night is the total opposite of everything we stand for and love.  It interferes with all we believe in.  It violates our moral code, it is the antithesis of the good, the rational, and the beautiful. 

Still, this we know:  There is no virus that can take down a human soul, and definitely not one that has withstood all the challenges that we have met.  Not like you and I have done.  No virus has ever lifted us up, breathed the joy of thriving, and doing, and singing, and learning, and becoming all that we search for and all that we hope to be.

In this hour of our discontent, may we stay as strong as we know we are, as brave as the warrior within each of us who never quits; may we remain as powerful as the force for good that radiates from us, that defines us, and guides us to what we choose to become.

We must choose life.  It is our way, our truth, our salvation.

Life is worth living.
