The Earth Speaks
She moves in silence across time and space
Exuding love upon her face
Toward destinations far away
Logging millions of miles every day.
It’s too soon to say she’s home to us
We act like travelers in a rush
We pollute her air and trash her waters
Creating filth like uncaring squatters.
She cleans herself with rain and snow
With winds of change she lets us know
For certan she will be here tomorrow
As renters we’re here mostly on the borrow.
Fate is neither ours to shape nor to hold
Tomorrow is meant for the brave and the bold
Not impostors to a throne that isn’t there
So quit pretending like you really care.
Let the wind and the rain and the oceans’ tides
Carry us along for heart-felt rides
Across meadows and valleys with minds together
This lady can see us in all kinds of weather.
We must capture the wind, the tides, and our worldly cares
She has the time if we have the fare
Her words remind us in the most daunting way
Begin a clean journey now, or get blown away.
