He was all alone, baby boy without his father. But at what cost did letting him go free?
"I love you daddy! Come home soon!"; the baby boy had just spoken to his dad, even though he couldn't hear him through that colored photo. A man thought to be so vile, but loved by his baby boy. Convicted of murder, just waiting to be put to death, he sat in his cell, just waiting to somehow get out. I felt sorry for my little baby cousin, who just wanted nothing more than to have his daddy come home, at the time which I was naive and wanted the same thing. We wanted so badly for him to come home, and my little cousin's heart was poured into the love for his dad!
Each night he would wait, his mother would wish so hard, even going as far as getting him involved in her prayers. It was hard to watch, as I could feel their pain. How could such an evil man be so loved? How could I even be so foolish as to think that maybe, just maybe he was a nice guy after-all, who had been in the wrong place, at the wrong time? I wanted to meet him, as I had never talked with him before.
One day, I was going to my older cousin's apartment, and there he was, the man who had escaped death! He was holding his son in his arms, a baby boy reunited with his only dream, to be with his daddy once again. It was a beautiful sight for us, still naive as I was. This was my first time meeting the man, so my older cousin introduced us, and she was like "I don't think you've ever met him before", and I had concurred.
Once the dad had gotten out, stories started to surface about this man, ones of unimaginable horrors of drug abuse, and the underground world. Were the stories true ? Did he actually kill someone? I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I literally refused to believe that such a loved man could've done such unspeakable injustices! No matter how much I tried to deny it, my loved ones, who I've always trusted all my life kept opening my eyes bit by bit.
When I finally opened my eyes, my little cousin's daddy had kidnapped him after the mom and dad had split. Baby boy was gone, and I had no other choice but to accept who he was... So many chances she had given him, even after she got her baby boy back; I don't know why the man was even loved...
