I was browsing around the site today and wanted to see what kinds of works were posted in the category my book would most likely be placed. Maybe? I'm really not sure now, because my book is nothing like anything I saw listed under the military category.
I have a great respect for everything military driven. I am not writing this to offend any of the writers who have spent years, days and immense hours of their life researching writing and all of the stuff that goes into the publication of a book military driven. I wrote a book, a little one, and I know how much work that took! I have yet to tackle a novel. So, before I go offending anyone here, please do not for a minute think that is my intention. I am overly proud of where I am. Where I am is married to the military!
That being said, my book doesn't fit in! It's funny, light hearted, cynical, and most of the time just plain goofy. I have written serious things in it that will grab at your heart strings no doubt, but for the most part I just spent my days writing about things that happened in my everyday life. Things that I could reflect on and laugh at myself about. As it turns out, everyone else seems to have no trouble laughing at me also. Granted, military spouse life isn't a barrel of monkeys by no means. It is stressful! It is lonely! It is full of heartache and very difficult times, but I seem to have a different way of expressing my anguish

The military aspect of my book is the most important part. I want to let the rest of the military spouses out there know that they are not alone in the day to day struggles we all face serving in the "silent ranks". All jokes aside, this is an honorable position. A position that often times gets forgotten or unacknowledged. I want to bridge the gap that stands between the civilian world and the military life that we live. "Army Wife's" be it a great television show in some circles, is still just that; A television show. I also want to bring a voice to those who rarely have the chance to tell it like it really is. As tragic as a "day in the life of me" is. Often times it sure can make you laugh.
So, Where does a book like mine belong? My hope is that it belongs on your coffee table or maybe even in your bathroom...lol Here at the Authors Den I am not sure what category it should be placed. What do you think?
