This story is about me. I am 52 years old and I finally graduated from college and it took me so long because I had so many setbacks, sickness and disease, but I was so determine to finish what I started at the age of 17. I faced death in eyes on numerous occasions. Against all odds, I made it at last. I graduated on May 12, 2014 at Gardner-Webb University with my Bachelors of Science degree in Human Services. I became disabled in 2003, yet I tried to work some anyway. I did some volunteer work in between going to the hospitals and doctors offices. I dedicated my life to Christ at the age of 15 and I knew God had something great for me to do. I started a ministry back in 2004 and as time went on, I had to put everything on hold. It is hard to acheive your dreams around negative people, but it is not impossible. I prayed for God to help me acheive my dreams. There were people laughing at me and saying she won't make it. I took math 5 times and most people would have throwed in the tower, but I was persistent and I wanted to finish my studies. I am going to write a book later on about my story and I hope that my life story will be on the big screen in threaters around the world. It wasn't all bad, but I have overcome many things and God is not finish with me yet.
I am doing my thang!! I am so excited about my life. You know that we had everything we needed to live and deal in this life at conception. We wouldn't be here if we were not ready. In other words, whatever you have been through and is going through right now, you were/are already anointed and strong enough to handle it. I am going to talk about that in my next book. Congratulations, Lorraine. I had never heard of Gardner-Webb U. so I looked it up. A small private university located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. Wow! You must have known half the kids on campus. How could it get any better? Follow your dreams!
Yes, congratulations for your persistence. You must not focus so much on what God did for you because it was your resolve and not some mysterious force that got you through taking math five times. And by all means, write your story because so many people throw in the towel and rely on public assistance to survive rather than their own initiative.
I know how hard it is to overcome other peoples' perceptions (Sartre called hell "other people") about disability having been paralyzed 50 years. While I had my academic setbacks, math came easy for me… except for calculus. Without my education I would've been dependent upon my family or the dole. As it turned out, I'm helping my family financially, employ three people, and pay taxes covering social services for those less fortunate.

You can write your book of life story anytime, whenever you feel like it. There should not be any waiting period. Just write something everyday, from your memories. That's what I'm doing right now.
