Two birds in love but hindered by the veil of religion...

Father Kallely was preaching with exuberance about the 'Lord's last super.' This was a topic that greatly fascinated Jane every time save for today. She wasn't miles away in thought but she was majorly distracted. To be honest, she had heard nothing of all Father Kallely preached. She felt her feet weaken and her heart beat like the tom-tom drums every time the tall stranger at the pulpit stared at her. He had just arrived in the ministry which comprised of a nun's convent, a priest's house, a primary school, a school for disabled children, a cathedral and a high school which Jane attended, barely a week ago. He was on the pathway to becoming a Roman Catholic priest. Father Kallely had introduced him as brother Josh.

 

Brother Josh was tall with a very well built physique. He had thick dark hair which was neatly packed. He had the teeth suitable for a Colgate smile advert. His hazel eyes were simply astounding. One look from them made Jane completely float on a cloud. Jane was young-only fifteen. She had never dated any guy in her life. She had heard people describe how it felt to fall in love but it was a feeling she had never experienced in her life save for now. She still didn't realise she was falling in love with this beautiful stranger.

 

She recalled the first time she had met Josh at the school administration corridor. Jane had been on her way to Sister Austin's office who was the school's principal to fetch her classroom's keys. Jane was more on the reserved side. Some said she was kind of shy. But one thing everybody noted of her was her magnificent beauty which was not only on the outside but in the inside as well. When Josh had seen her, he had stood rooted to one spot in awe. His hazel coloured eyes had run all over Jane as if they could see deep within her soul. Josh had exclaimed how beautiful Jane was to which she had replied shyly with a word of thanks before running off. From that moment, she couldn't take Josh off her mind. It was as if Josh was stuck in every inch of her being.

 

Josh was a skilled basketball player. He taught Jane's school valuable skills on playing basketball. Jane was into badminton but her best friend Cindy played basketball. Every time she went to the cheering squad to cheer Cindy, Josh could fix his eyes on her and she would shyly get so aroused. She had never felt this way for anyone and she was beginning to get a bit scared of these strong feelings. It was an all girls' boarding school that Jane attended which was privately run by Catholic nuns and priests. As such it was classified as a taboo to have a boyfriend.

 

Cindy who was Jane's best friend had noticed how Josh was always staring at Jane. Cindy had seen desire in his eyes for Jane and she had gone on to warn her of the adverse consequences of allowing Josh take her heart away. For that reason, Jane steered clear of Josh's presence which was never an easy task for her heart majorly yearned for him.

 

After six months in the ministry, it was time for Josh to travel back to his home country. Jane's heart broke into pieces as the news had come of Josh's due time of departure. The student body sang songs of farewell to brother Josh. Jane noticed that he looked rather sad. His once cheerful looking hazel eyes now looked sad and red. He looked at Jane and tears trickled from his eyes. He was crying for her and so was she. They had never got to talk not even brush a kiss but deep down their hearts they knew without doubt that they were engulfed with unshakable love for each other. The veil of priesthood had hindered their love from blossoming.

 

Today marks way over ten years since Jane had that encounter with Josh but she never forgot him- that hot looking guy, training to be a Catholic priest!

Oh, sweet sorrow! Life can be so full of wonderful things to choose from, that we have to learn to let other things go. I do have a feeling however, that if Josh really has strong feelings for her, he should abandon the priesthood. A serious priesthood student would, in my imagination, also divert his looks away from her, seeing the love as a temptation to change his direction. And there's no shame in giving up, and choosing for love for a woman. Marriage is as holy as priesthood, I believe. Very nice story.

I assume this is a true story. Many great stories have happened as result of encounters like these… Some very tragic because of the strong beliefs of people trying to subvert the passion of youth. It is sad that circumstances keep two beautiful people apart. It happens more often than one would think. Once again I would recommend that you get someone to help you edit the story to make it better before getting it published further.
