Your Voice Mama

In loving memory of my Mummy.


Poem Artwork

When the dreams were a mirage, seemingly far away from reach

Your voice was the bridge between present and future

When tears swelled in our eyes, bursting out like raindrops

Your voice brought tranquility to our lives

Your tenacity saw us sail and fly through school

On happy days, we sang and danced

Your scrumptious meals, the cream of the cake

A vivid evocation of your soothing motherly voice, floods my mind like a freshet

After the hustle and bustle of the long days, in the stillness of the night skirted with a few chirping crickets and the distant barking of security dogs

A voice of an angel could be heard praying

In the crack of dawn, when cockerels announced their presence,

That voice broke through the atmosphere like light

In praise and prayer

How can I forget your love so great?

How can I forget your voice so soothing and emphatic?

I never will!

I sent my roses up yonder to you Mama

Always with love.

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A MAMA WHO CARES, LOVES AND ALWAYS ENCOURAGES, BUT MOST OF ALL, WHO PRAYS! INDEED, HER PRESENCE WILL BE MISSED...BUT, NOT HER SPIRIT. THE MEMORY OF WHO SHE WAS WILL GUIDE YOU ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE, FOR...HE WHO GUIDED HER GUIDES YOU TOO. GOD USED HER AS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER...AND YOUR CHILDREN LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVED HER. Your mother was a very strong woman. I can see the determination on her face in that photograph. And as a result, you and your siblings are much better off, having enjoyed school and moved on beyond what your mother endured to bring you to maturity and a good writer to boot.

Beyond beautiful, this tributary writing. Exquisite epitaph that reveals and describes the ingredients of a rich relationship. I read here a bountiful story full of details of the best morsels of life, love and appreciation. Artistically created and wholly captivating, but mostly brimming with awareness of what love can feel like. Thank you* ~~ djl
