A good lesson in that it isn't just arithmetic that's hard for some kids to master. I recall my brother had to go to speech class in the fourth grade because he still was affecting baby talk when he spoke. I guess the story is also about how far friends will go to help. I've always been a helpful sort when it came to hard subjects so I taught for a while. I wasn't a good teacher (I'm a much better tutor) but when it got to teaching some courses involving mathematical principles, as a teacher I learned them much easier because I knew I had to present them well to the students.
