Author De’Kari
1). The title Gorillaz in The Bay sort of formed itself once the book was complete. Originally it was named something else but Gorillaz in The Bay was a better fit.
2). Gorillaz in The Bay was inspired by real life events that took place in my life and the lives of people very close to me.
3) When I have writers block, I usually just vision myself watching a movie and allow my subconscious to tell me what would naturally happen next. If that doesn't work, I will usually pick up a book about something completely different, by Nora Roberts, Jackie Collins or Lee Child and they inspire me.
4). I think it took me courage to write the book. For me it started out as a "I bet I can do that" type of thing. Then it was "Let's do it"! After it was written I let a few people read it and their feedback made the decision for me to publish it.
5). If I could have lunch with an author it would be with Maya Angelou. I would allow her to lead the conversation and I would go wherever the conversation took us.
Personal questions:
1). My favorite color is cream / beige. Because cream comes in a variety of colors
2). My favorite musical artist is DMX. I feel his pain and can relate to his life and his struggle. His music is like my book raw, true and uncut!!!!!!
3). My celebrity role model would be Denzel Washington because he never allowed his celebrity status to change who he is. He's still down to earth. Also, Samuel Jackson he came from being a drug addict to the top of the American dream.
4). I love eating too much to have a favorite food.!!!!!! (lol) But Gumbo is at the top of the list.
5). My Favorite movie is "Brave Heart" with Mel Gibson
