Jesus spoke of the “Kingdom of Heaven” and described it in many ways, such as “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a ….”.Where is the Kingdom of Heaven? When we speak of it in churches or in public we usually refer to it as being a place that is not a “physical” place but rather like another ethereal dimension or universe than our own. 

We know that other universes are predicted now by theoretical physicists and possibly that is where “Heaven” resides, but, what if it is within our own backyard and in this physical universe? You might ask, “how is it possible”? I would like to offer an argument for that possibility simply for consideration and debate, knowing that my own preference is that it is “outside” physics and this universe. 

I do this because the topic came up in an earlier post about what would be the nature of “ET”, and the discussion led to the idea that ET may be so far advanced that hostility would not be a factor if “he” landed on earth. I began to think of the possibilities for the real characteristics of ET, and it occurred to me that there is a level of advancement that would approach the description of “The Kingdom of Heaven” as given in the Bible, but could exist here in this universe. What would the characteristics of a truly advanced extraterrestrial civilization be like? 

Even though my mind is inconclusive about this argument, its support goes as follows: 

1. Hostility between any race or individuals usually originates with either a need or fear. We have that on planet earth because we have limited resources and many needs. If we learn how to control nuclear “fusion” to the extent that we have unlimited energy, then most of our “needs” would disappear. With an unlimited energy source, we could extract any resources we need from the earth to satisfy any desire. We are close enough to solving the “fusion” problem, that it is predicted within 50 years. Don’t you think any advanced civilization elsewhere in this universe would have already solved that by now?
2. The universe is 13.7 billion years old. How long does it take to develop an intelligent society on any planet like earth. The earth has existed for 4.5 billion of those years. Our society is really only 200 years removed from “pre industrialization” and the primitive reliance on nature entirely. In the previous 13.7 billion years, how many times could this have happened. If it did happen, it is very likely that any advanced intelligent society that survived the hostilities of a “developing” culture would be billions of years old. What would our society be like in a billion years if we survive that long. Would we eventually conquer all problems that threaten life, happiness, safety, differences? Would we have advanced philosophically to the point that we finally understand what happiness, religion, life, and existence, really mean? I believe any extraterrestrial society would have solved those problems by now.
3. Any ET society should have advanced far enough to value peace, love, and beauty above greed, envy, and hostility, and other human “ills”, and know how to separate those individuals who don’t have those values from those who do.
4. An  ET society would have advanced far enough that there would be no physical “needs” of any kind and would be able to provide whatever any individual could desire, as far as material “wants”. With no needs or fears, there would be no hostility and peace would be a constant state of existence.
5. An advanced ET society would probably have solved the “physics” problems of how to perpetuate the “mind” indefinitely, eliminating its dependence on the physical body of the person. They would probably have also learned how to “transfer” the mind of any individual into a permanent body that would not die or degrade. Perhaps they could even “save” the mind in a “backup” storage unit, like we do with hard drive storage, in case an “accident” should happen, guaranteeing a permanent existence. Could the “rapture” of a person’s spirit into a “glorified” body be such a transfer?
6.  In a billion years of existence, an advanced ET society should have overcome any problems in physics involving travel within the universe. We have theories now of “wormholes” and ways to travel faster than light speed. I would expect that an ET society would have perfected that by now to the extent that instantaneous travel anywhere in the universe would not be a problem.
7. Given the 12 billion years or so that such a society would have to develop and learn, I would expect that such a society would completely understand every aspect of physics, mathematics, every field of science, and any other area of intellectual endeavor.
8. If one such society could have developed in the billions of years since the creation, isn’t is likely that many could have and that they would have eventually merged into one society to form a sort of universal “kingdom”?
9. Given all the above, isn’t it likely that such a society would want to remain isolated from the “primitive” and “hostile” society that we have on earth?
10. Isn’t is also likely that before any “outsiders” were allowed into this society, they would have to first be proven to be “worthy”? 

Does this “utopian” type of society sound even a little like the descriptions given in the Bible of the “Kingdom of Heaven”? 

The media has been filled lately with testimonies of UFO sightings and it is hard to ignore so many accounts of “credible” witness of theses events. I would be the last to try to say what the basis of these sightings are, but I sometimes wonder if we are not closer to “The Kingdom of Heaven” than we realize. 

I don’t know if God’s Kingdom is possible in this “physical” universe or is somewhere else, but I do believe we are closer to knowing that answer than ever before, and maybe sometime soon, we who are believers and are worthy through Christ, will find the answer first hand. Jesus said “The Kingdom of Heaven is within you”.
