Survivor rescued from rubble 16 days after Bangladesh factory collapse!  

A woman who survived more than 16 days in the rubble of a collapsed factory building in Bangladesh was rescued on Friday.

A survivor was pulled alive from the ruins of an eight-story factory in Bangladesh on Friday, more than 16 days after it collapsed, killing more than 1,000 people. 

Authorities in Bangladesh are reporting they found a woman alive in the rubble of a devastating factory roof collapse more than two weeks after the disaster. The death toll of the accident has now soared past 1,000 with still more bodies to be recovered. NBC's Jim Maceda reports.  

The woman was found trapped in the remains of the building and given water and food as rescuers tried to reach her. Rescuers stopped using heavy machinery on the site during the delicate operation, according to Bangladesh’s Daily Star newspaper. 

Local television then showed a woman in a purple dress being freed from the rubble about 391 hours after the collapse. Bangladesh's army spokesman Shahinul Islam told Reuters that the woman had been "rescued and taken to a military hospital."  

The woman, named Reshma Begum, who is married with a young son, from the Dinajpur area was first spotted by a 15-year-old volunteer helping at the site called Monowar, the official said.  

The official said she was dehydrated but able to walk. Moazzem Hossain, an army major, also told the Star that she was in "good health."  

The paper said the first sign there was a survivor came when a rescuer heard groans coming from the basement at 3:15 p.m. local time on Friday (5:15 a.m. ET). She was freed just over an hour later.  

Bangladesh’s Independent newspaper quoted a rescuer who told local television that "as we were clearing rubble, we called out if anyone was alive." 

"Then we heard her saying, 'please save me, please save me.' Since then she has been talking to us."  

An official told the paper that she may have drunk water pumped into the building. A fire that broke out after the collapse was thought to have killed anyone else inside. 

The factory building -- once eight-stories high -- is now almost at ground level.  

"She has been located in a gap between a beam and a column ... She may have reserves of water or have drunk some of the water that we've pumped into the building," fire service chief Ahmed Ali told the Independent as the rescuers sought to free the woman. 

Ray Gray, who spent 22 years as a rescuer at most of the world’s major earthquakes, said it was “incredible” that she was still alive after more than 16 days. 

“She’s a very, very lucky lady,” he said. “It’s certainly the longest I’ve heard of.”  

Gray, who recently retired from working with the Scotland-based International Rescue Corps, said she must have had access to water as without it most people would be dead within a week.  

She would also have needed enough room to breathe, but could have gone without food, he said. Gray added that “if she’s walking, I guess she had access to some kind of sustenance.”  

He said the longest rescue he was involved in personally was of a woman in the city of Duzce, Turkey, who was trapped for four or five days after an earthquake in 1999. A closet fell on top of her and protected her from her house, which collapsed in the quake. She survived despite having no water or food.

The April 24, 2015 collapse of the Rana Plaza complex, which is about 20 miles northwest of Dhaka, was the world's worst industrial accident since the Bhopal disaster in India in 1984, Reuters reported.  

A spokesman at the army control room in charge of the operation to remove the rubble told the news service on Friday that the number of people confirmed to have been killed had reached 1,038. Roughly 2,500 people were rescued.

Firefighters in eastern China rescued an abandoned newborn baby boy lodged in a sewage pipe after he was apparently flushed down the toilet.

BEIJING – A baby boy believed to be just days old was found in a sewer pipe in a bathroom in China last weekend.
According to local media, the startling discovery was made on Saturday in Jinhua City, Zhejiang province.
Firefighters were called to an apartment complex where residents said they could hear the baby’s cries through the pipes.
Emergency crews who arrived on the scene could see the baby’s head far down inside the toilet duct, but were unable to reach down far enough into the 4-inch in diameter pipe to pull him out.
Rescuers had to walk down one floor below to cut the pipe free.
After removing the section of pipe containing the baby, firefighters took him to a nearby hospital where pliers and a saw were used to gently free him.
The child, whose name is unknown, was believed to be just two days old when he was discovered and initially suffered from a low heart rate and labored breathing. He had also suffered numerous bruises to his head, arms and legs.  

Doctors at Pujiang People’s Hospital said by telephone that the baby’s prognosis was good. His heart rate was stabilizing and his breathing was much smoother, they added.
Staff also reported that the hospital was paying the boy’s medical bills while donations of clothes, baby formula and other gifts were coming in from the community. 

Doctors declined to confirm whether the baby’s relatives have come forward. Police in Jinhua City said that they “seemed” to have found the baby’s parents before refusing to speak further. On Chinese social media, users expressed their outrage over the incident and called for the parents to be punished.
“More and more young parents treat their own flesh and blood so viciously,” wrote one user on China’s Twitter-like service, Weibo. “Treating a life like this is no different than murder.”
Others though expressed a desire to adopt the young boy.
“I am 25 years old and single! Can I adopt him?” asked one user.

PARIS — When rescuers saw Bahia Bakari, 14 years old, she was in rough seas, clinging to wreckage from the Yemeni airliner that crashed Tuesday off the island nation of Comoros. She is a French girl who was the sole survivor of Yemenia Flight 626, an Airbus A310, which crashed into the Indian Ocean near the north coast of Grande Comore, Comoros on 30 June 2009, killing the 152 other people on board. Bakari, who could barely swim and had no life vest, clung to a piece of aircraft wreckage, surrounded by floating corpses and debris for over nine hours, much of it in pitch darkness, before being rescued. Her mother, who had been traveling with her from Paris, France, for a summer vacation in Comoros, died in the crash.

After 27 hours in labor, Kelly-Anne’s body was still not ready for the delivery, but she felt it was time to push anyway and called for help. After some struggle, their baby was delivered—stillborn. The extended delivery time coupled with a pair of morphine injections had left the Esau’s son limp, blue, breathless, lifeless. The delivery room staff went into frenzy, trying to resuscitate baby Esau. As Junaid and Kelly-Anne tried to process what was happening, conflict rose in Junaid’s heart. Faced with the scene in the hospital, he struggled to reconcile what he could see, with what he knew to be true …that God had blessed the Esaus with a son.”[Thoughts] went from a joy and a peace, to where what I saw (the nurses frantically busy with Ben) started encroaching on that—I almost felt helpless. Then, I chose the side of God, and I took my eyes off the situation, and focused on the Lord,” Junaid said. 

The couple made their stand. Junaid declared that they would have a perfectly normal baby boy, and Kelly-Anne began to speak life over the baby, prophesying that he would live and not die, and calling out the things that he would accomplish one day. God’s Peace flooded the Esaus after their declaration. As the hospital staff continued to scramble, Junaid called his pastor, Andrew Lamb. After explaining the situation, Junaid asked for prayer. As Pastor Lamb brought his prayer to a close, and the two said amen, the baby’s chest rose, filling with his first breath. 

Benjamin Esau was alive, but he was not out of the woods yet… Junaid was emboldened by the presence and peace of God in their situation, and he accompanied his son to the neonatal ICU. It was his intention to protect Benjamin from any negativity that could be spoken over him. As the doctors examined Benjamin, his body behaved erratically, and his prognosis was discouraging. Because of the duration of the labor and the baby’s lack of oxygen, he was diagnosed with Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) a condition that may cause developmental delay, mental retardation, cerebral palsy or death. When he was diagnosed, Benjamin’s test results indicated he was in a near vegetative state. As Junaid processed the information he was given, he asked the doctor to clarify that the cause of his son’s problems came from severely damaged brain cells. The doctor affirmed Junaid’s conclusion.  

Then, Junaid thanked the doctor, walked over to his son and in front of the medical staff (still working feverishly to help Benjamin) put his hand on him and spoke to his son’s brain cells. Junaid commanded life, wholeness and healing into his son’s body, in Jesus’ name. Within four days, all measurable signs of the HIE and brain damage were gone.

When in 2009 the aircraft that U.S. Airways Captain, Chesley "Sulley" Sullenberger, was piloting experienced severe mechanical failure shortly after takeoff, he was able to safely land in the Hudson River with all 150 passengers and five crew members surviving. This occurrence is known as the "Miracle on the Hudson " landing.

KUTTAWA, Ky. -- A 7-year-old girl who survived a plane crash in Kentucky that killed her parents and two other family members has been released from the hospital, an official said Saturday.  

Kentucky State Police Sgt. Dean Patterson also said Federal Aviation Administration officials have arrived at the scene to try to determine why the small Piper PA-34 crashed as it was flying over in rural southwestern Kentucky early Friday evening. The plane had reported engine trouble and lost contact with air traffic controllers shortly before the 5:55 p.m. CST crash, authorities said. About a half hour later, a man called 911 and told dispatchers that a 7-year-old girl had walked to his home in Kuttawa, Kentucky, and said she had been involved in a plane crash. The child had walked nearly 1 mile, through thick piles of brush, in temperatures that were less than 40 degrees before reaching the home of 71-year-old Larry Wilkins. 

"She had one sock on her feet, and she walked all that distance barefooted," Wilkins told CBS News. "I wouldn't want to go in that woods right now in the dark without any lights whatsoever. I wouldn't want to do it. I know you'd fall. There's no doubt in my mind. She's a brave little girl."  

The girl was treated at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky, and released early Saturday, Patterson said.   

"This girl came out of the wreckage herself and found the closest residence and reported the plane crash," Patterson said. "It's a miracle in a sense that she survived it, but it's tragic that four others didn't."

THIS IS WHAT IS MEANT BY THE SCRIPTURE, ‘…THE JUST SHALL LIVE MY FAITH…’  FOR THERE ARE ‘MANY’ QUESTIONS THAT ONLY GOD CAN ANSWER. MEANWHILE, REST ASSURED; UNTIL GOD MANDATES THAT WE DRAW OUR LAST BREATH...WE LIVE!
