"I don't know why but it seems that some of us don't feel appreciated much while we're here. We expect remembrance
only after we're gone."
- Mark A. Sebring (Song For Daniel)
"Following Mom's death in 1978, three small notebooks and a scrap of wrapping paper were found among her personal possessions.
One notebook contained poetry and a couple other items she had written. On the wrapping paper was 'Weeping Willow', her last poem
written sometime after Gene's death in 1956. We had known Mom was Class Poet for the 1916 graduating class of Woodbine Normal
School. Finally, following her death, we had the opportunity to read her works. ...
While the project has been much work, it has also been very rewarding and somewhat disturbing. The typing allowed time for much
thinking about what Mom wrote and why. It appears that her writing revealed thoughts and moods that were uncharacteristic of her. Did we know her as well as we thought?" - Bernard J. Frederick (The Writings ofBernice Marie Phillipy Frederick)
Excerpts from a diary entry I had posted here:
Perhaps one day, after I'm gone, someone will read the things I have posted here.
And maybe, just maybe, they'll understand how I felt.
My AuthorsDen site and my YouTube channel contain many attempts to explain the things
I've been feeling, in the hope that someday someone might be interested.
If you wish to understand me, read my biography page, my poetry, and my articles on AuthorsDen.
Watch the videos. Follow my links. Read the commentaries in my reviews. They explain a lot.
Read the text and comments in my YouTube videos, my About tab, and my Community.
And watch my playlist: "L'Histoire de L'Homme Solitaire". It tells my story.
(I believe I'm the only one who has ever watched it.)

📘 The Story of My Life
My AuthorsDen website began as a simple collection of my songs, poems, short stories, and essays,
but I've gradually transformed it into a NON-LINEAR BOOK which is a combination of autobiography
and commentary on human nature. Influenced by William Faulkner's "The Sound And The Fury" and
"Choose Your Own Adventure" books, I decided to try to create something new and make my story
both non-chronological (like "The Sound And The Fury") and non-linear (unlike typical physical books).
I did this by making each of my songs, poems, stories, etc. a chapter of my story, and connecting them
by making each chapter contain links to several other chapters (giving the reader multiple choices),
so if you follow the links from chapter to chapter, you will find there are numerous paths from the
beginning to the end of the story. (Some paths and chapters are easier to find than others.) Though
there are many paths, there is a definite beginning to my story (my AuthorsDen front page) and a
definite ending. You would probably recognize the end if you found it, but whether you understood it
or not could depend on which path you took and how well you understood the various chapters along
the way. (My commentaries in the review sections of my pages are an important part of the story.
They explain a lot. The videos at the bottom of the pages are often helpful as well.)
Unfortunately, no one (not one person) read it while I was alive.💀 The puzzle remains unsolved.🧩
Non mi conoscevi perché non volevi.
If anyone should read all of this someday, After I'm Gone, I hope they will understand
that I've been pretty candid here, maybe a lot more candid than I should have been,
because I DIDN'T HAVE ANYONE to talk to. Writing was the only thing I could do.
(Not telling people how we feel is what Thoreau meant by "QUIET desperation".)
So I have expressed all of my unhappiness and disappointment, everything I've felt
bitter about, here on AuthorsDen and in my YouTube Channel. ◀
"I ended up back in my bedroom
and everything turned out all right.
I don't recall now how I got there.
It was a blue moon sort of night."
(Blue Moon Sort Of Night)
In the end, everything did turn out all right.
But in order to deal with my disappointment, I had to write.
And in order to understand my feelings, I had to be honest.
By the end though, I had finally REALized
that Love IS the only thing that matters.

The experience of a young adult trying to figure out what they want to do for employment or education can be overwhelming. My book will give them insight to what it means to be a carpenter. And the progress unions have made in discrimination.
