What effects one segment of America eventually leeches freedom from all of us, regardless of our nationality. People watch so much television. Our youths' minds are formed by television, unfortunately. Now kids with cell phones can text chat a number and type the word "SEXY" to get all kinds of soft-core explicit sex-driven messages from total strangers.
(Didn't we tell our kids not to talk to strangers? So we buy cell phone packages because we're too busy as parents to set out our schedules before they hit the school bus stops (which also are not safe anymore.)
Every weekend after 11 p.m. and even on weeknights, television with it's double standard on censorship looks as if there is some kind of porn advertisement ring that exploits the honor of young women, throwing virtue out in the sewer. Not BET has been purchased by Viacom, and all the commercials have to do with big cars, "booty" shakin', and alcohol. Nothing about education, nothing about business.

The fight is only just begun. The ancestors of equality and fairness were not afraid to confront the powers that be. If they turned their heads, none of us would be where we are today.
Black folks need to WAKE UP! Promote PBS, independent internet radio, your local tv and radio stations who ARE trying to do the right thing day and night and night and day!!!! Do whatever it takes.
Media slavery puts "stars in the field" and pays them to sell a lie to those who have no idea of the importance of the human voice speaking against social and educational ills.
Viacom isn't the only one who is continually doing damage. It all starts in the FCC, and guess which party heads it up?
Damage has already been done. More is being planned in the board rooms. America is addicted to cable, present writer included, because the good educational programs are unfortunately connected to it like the Discovery Channel, HGTV, and CNN. So much for arsenic and old lace and high speed internet.
Think long and hard about the image of hip hop, don't be afraid to confront the conflicting messages destroying our young people. Somebody has got to teach them. . . and teaching means sacrifice to save the generations. . . at least try to save a remnant because the world has already mostly gone to hell.

P.S, If I didn't share this already, here's something below from Melvia Miller. There's nothing wrong with loving your people, so we all need to see this from perspectives as they effect each and every one of us and not be afraid to call it like we see it. That's called "open dialogue"--something that our government tends to frown on these days (unless you're a desperate housewife.).
And remember that slaves were once upon a time indentured servants of all colors until people in power found ways to exploit. . . it became slavery, and it TOO, was an economically-driven entity based on, that's right. . . GREED.
