And since my estrogen gel hasn’t kicked in yet, my emotions are runnin’ kinda high right now. And in the face of the two-faced politicians who may read this and say “that black woman’s crazy!”, I ain’t crazy as what’s about to happen in the Big Crapper.

Question: What happens when you get a brown-skinned male mayor in the same room with a white female-in-menopause governor and pour in a bunch of upset folk who have lost everything they own but the skin off of their butt?
Answer: You get constipated politics and no relief from a bunch of clogged up crappers in Washington.
Is the South showing its old pre-civil rights attitudes in New Orleans? Satire in the way this whole mess is being handled just broke my levee and this little hippie militant thinks it’s high time some politicians realize that the people they oversee may not be there to fill up their jails.
Excuse my southern abrasive example but “shooting at the negros, the mulattos, the half breeds and the black men having sex with white women making half-breeds” ain’t gonna help much, Govenor Blanco. (Hey, isn’t Blanco Spanish for “white?” Now ironically Jim Crow can that get y’all).
I’m so sick of our nation acting with no better sense than a bunch of thugs themselves.

Why is it that a black mayor who cares about seeing people of his own color die, and a white governor Blanco (less confrontational?) says “Shoot to kill”.
What if this happened in Palm Beach or Orange County or Rhode Island? Or in Jacksonville Florida where there are a lot of rich friends of, excuse the politics, Governor Jeb Bush?
Why is it that New Orleans is the only location where people are shown “looting?” Aren’t people in Biloxi, Gulf Port, and parts of Alabama, Florida and other towns eating “something” that they didn’t buy? Didn’t Asian and Hispanic and Native American folks in New Orleans lose something too?
Oh, excu-u-u-u-use me for my lack of sensitivity. The folks locked up in the jails, mainly black, had no where to go. Sure, they committed a crime to be there (so they say) and all those drugs they sell—well, the owners sure didn’t look like them and probably took a private drug jet out of New Orleans to the cocaine fields in South and Central America. Besides, when New Orleans dries out, those poor people will need SOME kind of job since Wal-in the-Hole-Mart would rather see them shot them than give them a decent means to clothe and feed themselves. You know that snack food full of preservatives, high fructose corn syrup and non-GMO produce is just what those dark diabetics need to calm their high blood pressure!
And those nice, law abiding white people and quiet negroes knew each other. Domestic workers didn’t act live savages around the house, didn’t have to live in a place much compared to the bow of a slave ship, and didn’t have any Canadian tourists who were afraid of “all those unruly black people.”
I know I know!! Some of you yay-hoos out there are probably thinkin' "Affirmative Action". What the hell good did THAT do! Why not kust keep turning back the clock of progress and bring slavery back, everybody had a job then. With security for a retirement in a separated by little white fence so the colored would still know their place.
(Minimum wage and no benefits at Wal-Mart ain’t much different, so I’ve been told.)
They say that power-hungry witch Gov. Kathleen Blanco called the looters ``hoodlums' and warned those welfare leeches that she would rather see them dead than ruin her reputation as a governor.
``They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded,' she said. . . `These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will.' . . ."
Well, y'all, I would write more about this, but I gotta grab this carton-o-smokes that came up thru my toilet when I last flushed it after eatin' my burrito and hot sauce. So if you want to find me and discuss this, just know that Gryselle has now left to join the revolution.

On the state level, don't even get me started with the infighting that's gone on for decades regarding resistance to helping New Orleans with anything. And yes, it has a racial component. The city is predominantly black. It's experienced massive white flight to Jefferson Parish. And most definitely white legislators adopted an attitude of "We don't want to help those "ni***rs" down there with sh*t." White legislators in Georgia adopt a similar attitude when it comes to Atlanta. There's a pathology to this type of thinking that I address in my poem "You Know Why He Beats You."
As for Dubya, despite my not being a fan of his, I can't blame him for all this mess, I know too much Louisiana history. Besides, blaming the president is far too simple-minded a response. I do think, however, that in general he's too lax. In many ways he's still that party animal who danced drunk on the table in college, which is why he has this tendency to vacation so often. Mainly I believe Dubya isn't smart enough to have a devious destruction plan like don't send help. I think he just didn't know what the hell was going on and relied too much on CNN for his intelligence. "Oh, my God! Look at all those wild, black people with guns from the Wal-Mart. What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?!!!"
Yes, we can rescue "oppressed Iraquis" from Sadaam's military, but not our own citizens from opportunists with guns from Wally World. It reminded me of Eddie Murphy's line in 48 Hours. "Yeah, I know. It's your worst nightmare...a black man with a gun!" He actually said, "a black man with a badge and a gun," but you get my point. ;-) Control.
Still, the journalist and Christian in me will always try to be fair. Washington probably stalled for another reason too. I'm sure officials were afraid to run right in and separate the wheat from the chaff, the armed from the unarmed, and get people out for fear things got out of hand and they ended up with a genuine massacre resulting from more trigger happy law enforcement sent in with no clear plan but catch the gunmen. But like deer in the headlights, they waited too long. It would have been better to err on the side of attempting to save the lives of the innocent immediately. CNN and other reporters going for their Emmys with sensationalistic reports be damned. Or is that the problem? Perhaps when it comes to a sea of black faces, some people see no innocence.
