Book Millionaire doesn't know it yet, but Emma Bowen Meyer of Authors Den is a shoe in if I've got anything to say about it. Why? She wants to use 50% of the profits for a home known as Shultz Lewis Christian Children's Home to help with abused children and teens. That's worth a vote if every I heard a cause at all. And her kids are adorable, even though they are a handful and have stepped on my toes every once in a while moving as children often do rather quickly during playtime at church. Because I love this sister as a writer and a mother who gave up a career to raise her kids (in spite of her genius brain). She was a honors college math whiz grad from Ball State University; she is a member and mentor of the Ladies Bible Class at Fairlawn Church of Christ is Muncie; and last December while I was half asleep from staying up writing late on Saturday to walk into church winky-eyed that Sunday, she drafted me to teach the class this Spring Quarter.
(Best way to draft someone is to get them while their brain is half asleep. But alas, as we say as the secret newest running joke in our 401 Poetry Group, 'Half a Mouse Is Better Than No Mouse At All.' (Don't try and figure it out, but we laughed our butts off the whole night we last got together. So now, instead of saying to people 'a bird in the hand' etc. just say 'Half a Mouse Is Better Than No Mouse At All!' Oh well, back to Emma:
