A current controversy is beginning to rage, not only in our Southern states of Alabama and Georgia, but also, as the media picks up the story, more and more Americans are getting involved, from "Sea to Shining Sea."
The "Law" forced a JUDGE to remove the sculpture of The Ten Commandments from within an Alabama Courthouse. Initially, I heard about the issue on the radio, on a PBS station. Then, the day of removal rapidly approached. Then the foul deed was done!
Just today, the broadcast reported about a "march" and demonstration which had just occurred. Several prominent and distinguished citizens and politicians spoke out on this "so-called" Separation of Church and State. Then, I heard some very pat, glib "tongue-in-cheek" remarks from a woman attorney from the A.C.L.U. The more I listened, the more my blood began to BOIL! I definitely have an opinion, and it MUST be expressed. To wit, read on, faithful companion!
First of all, let us remind ourselves of some of the basics of Sociology, which were, in fact, the FORERUNNERS of "Man’s Law." At the very dawn of any given civilization, before anyone of the Homo sapiens species ever got the bright idea of chiseling, or penning, or writing ANY FORM of codification of anything, let alone LAWS, wherever groups of people congregated, certain verbal communications, or sayings, developed. These were known as Folklore. With the passage of time, these became known as "Mores." The words "morals" and "morales" both had their root in these beliefs.
Remember if you will, how, at the end of a tale, or story, or fable, you were asked, when a child: "What is the moral of this story?" There usually was a lesson to be learned, or a reason for the story. How about the Ant and the Grasshopper? "Don’t fiddle your life away frivolously, if you don’t work hard and save, you could someday STARVE to death!"
These methods or ways of getting along together in a society eventually were defined as "Norms." Ergo, if a person desired to be accepted, or considered "normal" ( suffix al means pertaining to ) one must act like everyone else. To do else-wise would be sheer folly, and bring about ostracization, if not even condemnation. You wanna’ stay here? Fit the MOLD - or HIT the road, Jack! Get the picture?
Well, back to the issue at hand - right or wrong - this is what I feel strongly in my heart:
America was FOUNDED on Religious Freedom - the Greater Majority of the Original Colonists were devotees of GOD - no matter whether they were: Protestants, Quakers, Mormons, Mennonites, Catholics (or whatever other Christian denomination or Sect), as well as Hebrews. Today, I believe that the Greater Majority of AMERICANS - no matter what Ethnic Group they were assimilated from, STILL BELIEVE in Honoring GOD - this means that if ANY STATUE, PICTURE, TABLET, or ANY FORM of Religious ARTWORK is displayed in or on ANY PUBLIC Building, Courthouse, Government Location - WHATEVER -
"WE THE PEOPLE" do NOT have a problem with it!
The words, "In God We Trust" are prominently printed on the face of EVERY COIN and denomination of Cash, which we all use, handle, touch - EVERY DAY of our lives! Most, if not all, OATHS of Office, including the MILITARY, have ended with the term, "So Help Me God!" for only about 200 FRIGGIN’ YEARS! Seems to me that AMERICA has DUN PRETTY GOOD thus far, doncha’ think?
Let’s get back to the "LAW" again, OK? As far as I am concerned GOD’s LAW - THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - PRE-DATE, PRE-EMPT, and PRE-SAGE - any laws made, copied, adopted, adapted, formulated, hypothecated, synthesized, or even prophesied by MAN !!!
This even includes the so-called First known WRITTEN set of laws, called The Code of Hammurabi !!! YOU WANT EQUALITY? READ THIS SUCKER!
NOW - we got: Federal laws, State laws, City laws, County laws, District laws, Burrough laws, Parish laws, Criminal laws, Civil laws, Transportation laws, Aviation laws, Interstate Commerce laws, Military laws - on and on and on - ad infinitum! GIMME A BREAK, WILL YA?
JUST ONCE - before I go to meet my MAKER - I would love to see a GROUND-SWELL of the Greater Majority to JUST ONCE get off their fat ARSES - and have the intestinal fortitude to STAND UP AND BE COUNTED - WRITE (gee, some of you gals and guys CLAIM to be writers, doncha’?) CALL, EMAIL, send SMOKE SIGNALS - whatever to: The President, The so-called Supreme Court (you know, the FOOLS that knuckled under to Madeline Murray O’Hare), YOUR Governor, YOUR Mayor, YOUR Senators, YOUR Delegates, YOUR Representatives - and TELL them what YOU THINK!!!
How about a National REFERENDUM on ALL BALLOTS for the upcoming Presidential Election? PUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS BACK - TELL ALL THE "BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS" AND THE A,C.L.U. ---> TO MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS, STICK THEIR BLOOMING HEADS BACK DOWN IN THE SAND, AND IF THEY DON’T LIKE IT ---> GET OUT OF DODGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I, for one, would like to be the BOOKMAKER giving ODDS on the outcome - my money would be on the RELIGIOUS - nor the MANGY LIONS !!!
If anyone finds this article offensive ----------> maybe you need to refresh your memory and actually READ The Ten Commandments - they COVER ALL BASES quite adequately!
OH - just a minor after-thought - you DO remember what happened to SODOM and GOMORRAH ----> and ---> ROME ---. Doncha’ ????

Ahh The old "founding fathers" argument.
DID YOU KNOW George Washington (remember...the father of our country?) said, "The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." -Treaty of Tripoli 1796.
DID YOU KNOW Thomas Paine was a pamphleteer whose manifestos encouraged the faltering spirits of the country and aided materially in winning the war of Independence:

Like many Americans at the time, most of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christian. Also like many Americans back then, they werent perfect. This country was built on the blood, sweat and tears of African slaves and Native American workers(we can also thank the Chinese immigrants for the railroad system). All the colonists had to do was come up with the idea.
"Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him" (Mark 12:13-17). (This is Jesus talking by the way..)
"My kingdom is NOT of this world." (John 18:36)
The only recorded time when Jesus resorted to violence- "When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of the cords and drove the all from the temple area both sheep and cattle:he scattered the coins of the money chargers and overturned their tables. "Get out of here! How dare you turn my Fathers' house into a market!" (John 2:13-16)
Jesus was in seperation of church and state. But since when did most Christians follow the word of Jesus? -Joe

The outcry over this is justified. State and religion should not mix. Period. People are getting tired of being denyed their rights because a judge hiding behind a bible says so. For some reason the southern states have a difficult time understanding this concept. The fact is, this country mixes the two enough already. We don't need a state religion. If that's what you want sir, I suggest you move to the middle east. Your religion is YOURS ALONE. As the bumper sticker goes, "It's your religion, your hell, you burn in it." -Joe

The current state of affairs in this wonderful country, the fact that our nation seems to have lost its moral rudder, is discouraging. However, if I ever take the time to pause and think about it and believe me when I say I don’t pause nearly enough, it’s also disheartening to see so much venom of nearly equal toxicity being thrown with righteousness at what we see as the worst offenders of the lot. I do in fact agree with you. But such swings in morals, ethics, etc., come in cycles, and these idiots will be at the wrong end of the stick sooner or later, and without us busting a gut and destroying our sanity by trying to rush it.
