I don't normally post two related posts on the same day, but this comment from an American ABROAD cried out for acknowledgement!

Maybe if a few MILLION or so of you guys would get off your ARSES, GRAB THE TORCH, and CARRY IT FORWARD... maybe, just maybe WE here at AD COULD START A " GRASS-ROOTS" MOVEMENT THAT COULD WAKE UP AMERICANS?

I, for one, am sick and tired of being IGNORED by all levels of our government. Emails to Congress do NOT work! OPEN LETTERS ditto! The Mass Media, likewise. The miniscule number of people controlling the reins DO NOT WANT TO HEAR!

Maybe the answer is MASS MAILINGS to journalists like Charlie ROSE, Jim LEHERER, ALL of our PUBLIC TV STATIONS? Perhaps EMBASSIES of our ALLIES?

I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER... BUT KEY-RIST! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING!

Although the voters did speak out last November, my biggest fear now, is that the public will sit back on their laurels, and FAT-ARSES and just WAIT for the 2008 ELECTION!

ANOTHER WASTED YEAR MEANS MORE AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN WILL DIE IN HARM'S WAY... NEEDLESSLY!

YOU WANT TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS?

DO SOMETHING TO BRING THEM HOME!

“A sad fact:
There were no "American Interests" in Iraq until the United States bombed the hell out of their country and launched an illegal invasion. I say impeach this current administration and put them all on trial for international crimes against humanity.

Your article points to some of the evil agendas that America still needs to wake up to before it's too late.

I am an American citizen living in Europe and the people here are shocked by the complacency of the majority of US Citizens. I honestly don't know how to respond to them. What further atrocities must occur before "the people" have the courage to stand and fight for what's right?

Hi! thanks for commenting. You bring a whole new light to this dilemma! While I may rant and rave here locally, I could never imagine being an "Ugly American" living in a foreign country. Who are you able to confide in? Where and how can you commiserate? How do you deal with the looks, and leers, and comments of others?

I must confess that such a situation never crossed my mind! Being here, and 'bitching and moaning' on AD... and writing letters to congressmen that go UNANSWERED, letters to editors as well, sometimes feels futile. But, like you, when something bothers me, I must speak out. Would that more Americans would lose their apathy and do likewise!

In retrospect, when one considers all of recorded history, including the Holocaust --- never before have so MANY been horn-swaggled by so FEW, with such MAMMOTH results!

In short, these current 300 million or so citizens of this country, are the WORST example of STUPID SHEEP, just following the devious lying 'shepherds in sheep's clothing' right into the great ABYSS!

There are times when I honestly worry about being listed on some surreptious "HIT LIST" but my conscience won't let me succumb to paranoia.

As our individual freedoms are constantly whittled away, I keep hoping that FREEDOM OF SPEECH will survive. If that goes, we are DOOMED!
