However, I have reached a point in life where skepticism has now prevailed. i.e. I do not believe that pharmaceutical manufacturers really WANT to produce a cure for cancer, or diabetes, or AIDS, or Alzheimers, or any other debilitating illness. WHY?

Because they make more money keeping everyone HOOKED on repetitive medicating. RELIEF!
Remember the old commercial: “How do YOU spell RELIEF?”

If it eases PAIN, keep taking it forever. As a so-called "RETIRED" senior citizen, I am forced to work 3 days every week, just to barely make ends meet. Every day I work I deliver prescriptions - meds - drugs - TO OLD SICK POOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T AFFORD THE DEDUCTIBLES, CO-PAYS, AND UNCOVERED EXPENSES -MEDICARE DOESN'T CARE! INSURANCE COMPANIES DO NOT CARE! BUSH DOES NOT CARE! CONGRESS DOES NOT CARE! THE PUBLIC DOES NOT CARE!

This phenomenon only represents about 78,000,000 MILLION AMERICANS, almost ONE-THIRD of our TOTAL POPULATION… How much BIGGER or WORSE must it get before WE THE PEOPLE FINALLY WAKE UP?

EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS OF: DIABETES, ESPECIALLY NOW IN CHILDREN - OBESITY, YET EVERY DIET FAD AND PLAN EVER INVENTED BOMBARD THE AIRWAYS - ADDICTION, ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SMOKING - PORNOGRAPHY, ON THE INTERNET, ON BOOKSHELVES, IN EVERY STORE.... ALL GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS FOR 50 YEARS NOW!

CURE FOR CANCER - WAR ON DRUGS - WAR ON CRIME - SAVE THE CHILDREN - SAVE THE PLANET - SAVE THE WHALES - FIND SALVATION - PTL CLUB - 700 CLUB - BENNY HINN - BILLY GRAHAM - AND MORE, MORE, MORE... ALL WORTHY CAUSES... BUT NONE CURED!

I have watched, prayed, donated, believed... for over 50 years... YET, time and untold MILLIONS of dollars have never ELIMINATED any of these major problems of mankind.

I now do not believe in, nor support ANY ORGANIZED RELIGION! They all say the same thing: give me money so I can continue keeping the SHEEP in the fold."

If people really think that pouring more money into LOST CAUSES is the thing to do, then how about RE-ROUTING THE FLOW OF 300+ BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE WAR IN IRAQ BACK HERE TO HOME, think that large amount of money could, or would CURE ANYTHING?

One person at a time... ONE on ONE! One Party to the other Party, One State to another State, One Nation to another Nation, One Religion to another Religion, One Region to another Region, One Continent to another Continent, One Planet to ITSELF!

I would be so bold as to suggest that every person go GOOGLE --- THE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI --- "Lord, make me an instrument of your Peace..."

KUDOS TO YOU, TOM HYLAND!

You've expressed my feelings and thoughts to a "T", and I, for one, do not believe this is being skeptical. There comes a time when reality overcomes blind-acceptance; maybe that comes only with age-experience!

I'll soon celebrate 3/4 of a Century on this earth, and have experienced all the "miracle" drugs, medical specialists, etc. to keep this body surviving...only to realize that all those experiences (paid for by good insurance) could have been avoided had the insurance coverage included Acupuncture as the basic treatments. But then, who would pay those expenses (read: profits) to the billion$ money-making-do-gooders?

More KUDOS to you, Tom. Hey, keep this here in Blogs, but also put up in your articles!!

I never even thought of THAT angle... how the AMA controls and keeps alternative medicine OUT of availability, and insurance coverage.

ACUPUNCTURE - MASSAGE THERAPY - YOGA - CHIROPRACTIC - AROMA THERAPY - NATURAL ORGANICS - IN SHORT, ALL HOMOTHERAPY!

Got to keep the ALL THE MONEY flowing to JUST THE DOCTORS, RIGHT?

Own experience - other than an abscessed tooth, an abscessed inner cheek, and a PHYSICAL EXAM... have NOT been to a M.D. in about 25 years! But monthly CHIROPRACTIC treatments, galvanic stimulation and manipulation, alternated with MASSAGES in alternating visits KEPT me fine, avoiding both prior BACK problems, and KNEE BURSITIS.

THEN BC/BS STOPPED COVERING! Can't afford $60-80 every 2 weeks, so I stopped going about 1.5 years ago. Now on MEDICARE, it doesn't cover ANY, so live on PAIN PILLS NOW!
