COMA - Movie Review

Just finished watching an EXCELLENT film - COMA!

It was Directed by Michael Crichton, and stars: Michael Douglas, Genevieve Bujold, and Richard Widmark, with Cameo appearances by both Tom Selleck and Ed Harris, who is so young, he has hair!

This movie came out in 1978, thirty years ago, and is based on Robin Cook’s Bestseller of the same name. Action, Intrigue, Suspense, Plot Twists - they are all in there!

In some sense, this film makes 1984 seem like Kindergarten! If you consider the major advances in Medical Technology that have occurred throughout all these years, and how antiquated some of the props are - yet, part of the SCI-FI included herein is quite impressive.

While there are just a few scenes which are quite graphic in this movie, they are no where near as gross as today’s television shows!

Concerned about National Health? Care about rising Healthcare costs? Wonder just WHO is profiting? Obviously, Robin Cook had a very vivid imagination - and that was over a Quarter-Century ago!

How I ever missed this one in 1978, I’ll never know - but for sheer pulse-pounding excitement, I’d give this film a - TEN PLUS!
