Gave me a good laugh. Do you remember when they named a few cars after Indian Chiefs? The Pontiac comes to mind. My 2 all time favorites were the Opal and the Carmen Giah. Think I spelled that wrong. Hugs, J’nia
J’NIA - Yep - Pontiac was an Indian Chief & the emblem on the hood was his face.
You mentioned OPEL - I remembered them being sold here as Buick Opels - but did not know anything about their German & European history & being OWNED BY GENERAL MOTORS - GMC ... After GOOGLING the name went to this website & read it ALL - some of the info blew my mind -
A GM VP received an award from ADOLPH HITLER in 1938 !!!

Ha! My very first car was a Hudson Hornet, when I was just a kid. It would go anywhere. I drove it across fields and through the woods. With never a flat tire. That car was tough as a tank, solid steel. It was probably my driving it that caused Hudson to stop making them anymore ?

most were made for sales in CA & had no heaters - think they got close to 50 mpg, but Americans weren’t READY back then for economy - big V-8’s & FISH-TAILS were too popular.
Remember the GREMLINS too - the flat-back Hatch-back - after these losers failed - then the PACERS came out, kind of like a Pregnant, rounded Gremlin - another loser ...

About 35 years ago, friend named Will Yingling had one, same color as pic - about 6 guys went on a crabbing trip to Eastern Shore of Chesapeake Bay - mamy many beers and few crabs later, I slept on the floor of that sucker, on the trip back home. Worst traffic back-up I ever saw that day - lucky the crabs didn’t eat me FIRST!
Three years ago, a young fella named Richard was a Landscape worker at Johns Hopkins University, Homewood Campus, and owned one of these. He had restored it personally, and used it every day to transport shrubs and plants and mulch and stuff - quite dependable!

I agree with all you said, but the sad truth is that for many years, the recruitment has been from the MILITARY!
Young men who were brainwashed to begin with - saw action - managed to survive and return - and some truly ENJOY power abuse - that is SAD also.
Many years ago, I had a close personal friend who did this. A biq, quiet, bear of a guy - joined the National Guard - became an MP - Military Police -
came back - joined Police Force - and loved to Patrol one of the worst neighborhoods in Baltimore, at night - EGGING men on, so he could beat them up with his BATON ...

Your dad sounds to have been quite a man, and here I am complaining of little back pain every now and again, but with nobody to support, except Rufuz, I am waiting till the right job comes along...though I just got a call on one, but it is like 50 miles away one way, then to drive all day and home another 50...who knows, what with times like these...anyway, maybe you should be the family geneologist...Ed
ED - YEP! He was my personal real life hero - John Wayne. I didn’t learn any of that amazing history until I was an adult, and not from him! He was also quiet and humble.
My Aunt Honey, his older sister, spent most of her life traveling by bus and by train, all over MD & DC, hand-copying records at courthouses, to prove geneolgies going back in history - so any female Hyland could join The Daughters of The American Revolution - DAR - she was feisty!
While this was one of her true passions, and she DID it - over many years - NONE ever saw fit to even join!
I truly wish you luck with your job search, things are tough out there. I can only say that i was Blessed, falling into my PT job. May will be 3 years now, and I love it. Keeps me busy 3 days per week, helps me meet ends with a few bucks, have a gas card for gas & auto repairs, and tires, and they reimburse me $30/mo. For cell phone = Perfect!
Plenty of sick people, and more Baby Boomers living longer. How far are you from Atlantic City? I would recommend that you personally visit EVERY pharmacy - one by one, in an orderly fashion, using a printed list - by city - by county - by township - whatever. Some pharmacies do have their OWN vehicles to use - if not, ASK about a company Gas card, for expenses.

That is so sad isn’t it. I believe that all dogs go to heaven when their mission has ended. I wonder if they don’t all start out in heaven and get assigned to specific families for a reason I’m not too certain of. But, this I know for certain, dogs love us unconditionally. The will protect us even if it means they may lose their own lives in the process. Just recently we read in the paper about a poor dog who was washed overboard in a storm near Australia. The grief stricken owners believed he was dead, but a coast guard went to a small island he patrolled about once every 6 month or so and there, low and behold was the dog. Skinny from hunting rodents, scared and lonely. When reunited with his master, he flew out of the guards arms and into the loving arms of his master. This story too makes me cry. We have several dog waiting for us in heaven. All the more reason to want to go. Many hugs, love and a few tears, J’nia
J’NIA - Thank you for your kind observations. I think you may be right about their origin - almost like for-legged Guardian Angels, but with shorter life spans. I saw the story and reunion on the BBC news last night - quite a remarkable story. They even referred to the canine as a Robinson Crusoe!

I know what is in your heart, Tom. I’ve had too many pet-children leave this Earth and it’s not easy on the spirit. Now have 5 kitten-siblings that are 15 years old, one that is 12, and the 7th now 5. I’m trying to outlive the most of them, as it would be hard to find homes for them all! Peace, My friend.
