Death, the great equalizer. I agree that most people are only one pay check away from loosing it all. Various reasons for this are obvious of course. Young people today get approved for mortgages of upwards of half a million so they can buy their dream homes. They don't know that they've been duped by the system into mortgaging their own souls for 30 yrs. The average person in Canada and the USA has 13 jobs over their life time. That means that there are at least 13 times during those 30 years when there will only be one income to pay the bills. In fact, if we are talking about a couple, you can count on close to 26 times when there will be a serious short fall in moola. What relationship could stand this and remain happily married?

J’NIA - thanks for comments. I can personally attest to this.

Was married 34 years - got fired in ’96 - we lost our Early Bird Café Business - went Bankrupt in ’97 - blamed each other and argued for 4 years - Separated in 2000 - Divorced in 2002.

Although I agree with most of what you said, I don't understand the date of death you have used. I think we died around November 2000, when Junior took office. Soon came the mis-handling of 9/11, the ill-advised invasion of Iraq, the mis-handling of Katrina, the banking and mortgage industry 'free reign' which led to millions of home foreclosures, the ever increasing number of American jobs going overseas, our refusal to get off the oil economy resulting in astronomical oil and gasoline prices, etc., etc., etc.

I think we died about 10 years ago now, and many refuse to acknowledge that we did.

ED - OOPS! As per usual, you are correct! The pic was posted hastily, and I forgot that date was on there! The RIP for America is what I was going for. Most would never have noticed, but you read with a keen eye for detail.

The whole sordid mess with ‘JUNIOR THE JOKER’ - MAKES ME SO ANGRY - I hate to dwell on it now!

I've often wondered WHY hasn't our Military simply opened ALL bases in America to taking care of our Veterans? Imagine Duece-and-a-half trucks going into every major city, every day, like Busses, and picking up homeless Vets, and taking them back to the base hospital. Medical care, food, clothing, shelter all available right on each Military Base - Simple, Easy, and Sensible!

You would think that every - Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Air Force, or Coast Guard Personnel on Active Duty would willingly WANT to support such a System - "There but for the Grace of God go I" ...

As a corollary, consider the huge BRAC deployment that is about to be finally realized. Here, in Maryland alone, 40,000 to 50,000 Military Personnel and their Families are supposed to be coming to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Fort Meade, and Fort Detrick. Housing, Transportation, Education, Employment, Food and Furniture, Supplies, and other important things will be highly impacted!

The City of Baltimore ALONE - has on its website a 28 Page Plan of Action that was Posted there way back in 2007 !!!

HOW CAN WE DO LESS FOR OUR VALIANT VETERANS?

Follow-up - now, at the entrance light to my area, right out on Eastern Avenue & Diamond Point Road -
AFTER putting in all those new 'unused’ sidewalks and curbs - the road crews came back!

Disrupting traffic in both directions, reduced to One lane each way, for over two weeks now - they are tearing out the old MEDIANS, and re-pouring new concrete ones (totally unnecessary) AND ...

the brand-spanking new sidewalks are all SPRAY-PAINTED with RED LINES, obviously markings for some more future asinine WASTE OF MONEY!
