More goofy thoughts from the 'Button-Down Mind' of Yours Truly ...

MICRO ?

It all started out this morning, about eight am. I had just made my first cup of Java. I always prefer a clear glass mug, rather than ceramic one - just feels cleaner and crisper to me. This particular mug is adorned with shapely Christmas trees, decorated of course, with balls and a star on top of each.

So, after heating the filtered water in the ‘nuker’ or Micro-Wave machine at Power 10 for 145 seconds, a steaming cup of H2O is produced. Hopefully, any germs, or microbes have been fully saturated with sterility, and/or Death!

Next, to the counter, where the ingredients are added: one semi-heaping teaspoon of Nestle’s Tasters Choice Decaffeinated coffee is spooned in, then another spoonful of Non-Dairy Creamer (usually cheaper generic brand), and finally, a full teaspoon of one hundred percent Natural Honey. Stir - stir - STIR - until all seems commingled nicely.

Minutes later, as I sat on the ‘throne’ - ‘reading my will’ - I happened to glance down to the cup, resting on my little foot-stool - while the rapid swirling had ended, something else was happening - there was Motion! Small particles of floating creamer were obviously still ‘breaking down’ in this partially colloidal suspension. WHY?

There was no discernible motion affecting my 14’ X 45’ trailer (mobile home to affluents) - there were no vibrations, or ripples, just constant movement. Ah-Hah! I guessed it was Chemical Reaction - the four diverse ingredients were simply still forming. Seems plausible, right?

Then it dawned on me - someone much wiser than I once wrote that:
“The only thing Permanent is Change!” This made me think of a possible corollary ... “The only thing Constant is Motion!”

Our Universe is constantly in motion amidst all the other universes out there in the Great Macrocosm. Our earth is constantly Revolving around our Sun, while also constantly Rotating on its axis. Our Moon is constantly revolving around our Earth. The immense ‘Seven Seas’ are constantly in motion, experiencing Ebb and Neap Tides, caused by the influence of our Moon’s ‘pull.’ Winds high above the Earth are constantly shifting to and fro, causing all the various forms of Clouds to both move, and change shapes.

Storms - both electrical and windblown, are popping up, moving, shifting, flowing, and eventually disintegrating, then disappearing. Typhoons, Hurricanes, Tornadoes ... more movement, interspersed here and there - sporadically, all over the Earth.

So - what has all of this movement got to do with Micro? In contrast to the entire visible world - the Macrocosm - we have the opposite - the little teensy-weensy world of things and ‘critters’ - that can only be seen under a Microscope - the Microcosm!

What is the largest group of living creatures? MICROBES ! Germs, Bacteria, Viruses - Microorganisms ... they are EVERYWHERE!

Inside, outside, in our bodies, outside our bodies, in the air we breathe, on the food we eat, in the drinks we drink - Trillions upon Trillions? Quadrillions? Quintillions? Sextillions? Septillions? Octillions? UNCOUNTABLE!

And guess what Pilgrims ... they are ALIVE ... and MOVING!

When I went to my WORD Thesaurus to look up Microbes, I was amazed at the number of words listed that started with the prefix - micro ... so I took the time to count them ... 123 Words! That’s a lot of MICRO-

Well, now it is the next day, Wednesday 11/30 ... and I’m back ‘Full Circle’.
Time to make my 4th cup of Java this morning ...

Stir, Stir, STIR ... MORE MOTION ...

and Wonder ...
